The Cardinals' starters averaged 5.1 innings per start this season. That is tied for 15th in MLB. (It is being dragged down by Leahy, or they likely are top 10)

It is above teams like the Brewers, Padres, Rays, and White Sox, all of which are in playoff contention.

I see the argument that the rotation is wearing out the bullpen, but I certainly don't think that's the case when compared to other MLB teams.

@LCH_history I don't know, and I don't want to speculate. I will say that it isn't the traditional Tommy-John cast he is wearing, so it might not be the elbow.

Tink Hence had a successful surgery on his arm.

Sucks, but hopefully this is a step in him getting right in the future, because he certainly wasn’t right this season.

Mason Molina since the start of August:

2.68 ERA, 3.45 FIP, 40.1 IP, 29.4% K%, 9.2% BB%

Molina’s command took a huge hit in his first few games with the MLB ball at AAA, but he’s started to find his groove, suppressing contact quality very effectively over the last few games.⬇️

At times, I thought certain guys were worn out, but that more clearly shows how little trust Oli had in more than 3 guys in the bullpen, and that bullpen depth was certainly the issue this season.

@TwittaTwee The way the catcher position has progressed in MLB it’s hard to find catchers who don’t do those at all anymore. The really elite defensive catcher is basically dead at this point

Cardinals positives this year
- Jordan Walker
- the rookies (JJ, Quinn, Leo, Josh, and Coop)
- the starters in general (8th in starter ERA in MLB)
- the defense
- Burly establishing himself as one of the best hitters in baseball
- The Farm System ⭐️

Negatives
- bullpen
- 3B and CF
- Liberatore

Feels like there’s been a lot more positives this year than negatives. Excited about the future.

@Winderdad6 He’s just kinda ok at everything and not really good at anything, which is great as a 4th outfielder off the bench.
