Sleep is when our gains from training happen. Food fuels both those gains and that training. Doesn’t matter how hard you train if you don’t take care of yourself the rest of the day.
Training is not always fun. Athletes often experience exhaustion, boredom, stress, anxiety, fear, and adversity, but in order to succeed and be happy, athletes need to maintain a positive attitude and learn to love the process.
The average, “normal” American has habits and a lifestyle incompatible with athletic success (diet, sleeping habits, partying, social media/TV use, etc.) If you want to have athletic success, you have to accept not being normal (in some ways, at least).
