A big numbers day today. We made our 4000th visor, we managed to assemble more than 1000 in a day (1049 to be exact) and our overall total nearly reached 4700!
Please get in touch if you need visors.
Redborne D&T - PPE update
We also diversified and are using our offcuts to make ear-savers for people wearing surgical masks that fit over the ears. I have 150 of these to give away and they are in groups of 10. Let me know if you need ear-savers? [email protected]
Redborne D&T - PPE update
Big day yesterday! 368 visors produced - largest number by far. Also sourced supplies of polypropylene and will now be able to produce for a couple of weeks if we can get equal supplies of the clear shield parts.
The department has also diversified into scrubs/scrub bags/masks production - the Textiles, Food and Child Development staff are madly sewing these products up and sending to NHS.
A reminder that any key workers wanting visors should email [email protected] and a second reminder that there is no charge for these visors - they are a gift from me and my school to say thank and to help you stay safe.
Other good news is that two local firms - Massmould and PressFab - have joined Redborne in manufacturing visors and are adding their work to the output of the school - they're 3D printing visors and passing on to me for distribution.
We've finally got some more polypropylene! We were able to re-start manufacturing today and had a good day with 300 visors made. Thinner materials and a redesigned strap meant quicker laser cutting and we were able to keep up - 300 is our biggest day of production so far.
We have made 700 visors so far and over 800 still pending!
Still taking requests for visors - please email [email protected].
Visors so far gone to: care homes; shops; police; paramedics; surgeons; maternity; A&E; food banks; fire fighters; nurses; the list goes on!
The Redborne DT department are manufacturing visors for key workers. If you would like one free of charge and can collect from Ampthill please let us know?
A big thank you to Carlton Forbes and his team in the technology department of Redborne Upper school for donating Visors to our staff. We are extremely grateful. Thank you and stay safe.
