New Truck 1 at scene of its first structure fire tonight. RFD responded to a 1st alarm structure fire in fire district 4. Initial crews found a well involved garage fire. Truck 1 crew was assigned to roof ventilation. No injuries where reported.

NOW SERVING: Engine 6

Our brand new E-6 was placed into service today. Station 6 serves the citizens of North Redding and the Buckeye area. This new engine replaces the 2011 apparatus that will go into our reserve fleet.

Today we remember Redding Fire Investigator Jeremy Stoke, who we lost 5 years ago today. Members of the RFD and community met at Fire Station 8 for a time to remember and reflect. You are truly missed Jeremy.

ROAD CLOSURE:

Northbound I-5 is closed at Twin View Road in Redding due to a liquid nitrogen leak from a truck. Additionally, I-5 Southbound has one lane open. There is no risk to the public but please avoid the area.

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. As firefighters, we see horrors few can imagine. The hidden injuries of the job are just as real as the ones you can see. The RFD did Safety Stand Downs to focus on mental health and suicide prevention. #MentalHealthAwareness

Redding Fire at scene of a 2nd alarm structure fire in the 2100 block of Pine St. The first arriving Battalion Chief reported heavy fire and smoke from the 2nd floor and roof. Crews were able to contain it to the second floor. No injuries and cause is under investigation.

On April 30, 2023 at 0800, the Redding Fire Department began staffing Truck 1 out of Station 1 with 4 firefighters assigned for the first time in RFD history. This staffing on Truck 1 will allow increased efficiency in operations and improve public safety. #reddingfire

WORKING FIRE: Redding Fire at scene of a commercial structure fire at Western Truck Center off Twin View. Engine 6 arrived to find heavy fire showing and requested a 2nd alarm. 8 engines, our ladder truck, breathing support, and command staff responded. Under investigation.
