Britain has one superpower. ๐ฌ๐ง
It isn't the navy. โ
It's us. ๐ค
Every time we've stood together, we've won.
Runnymede, 1215. A king who taxed as he liked and jailed who he liked. The barons and the City of London met him in a meadow and made him sign. So today nobody is above the law. Not even a king. ๐
1381: A poll tax on every soul over 15, rich or poor, the same coin. 60,000 farm workers marched on London to say no. It was never collected again.
1688: A king who thought he answered to nobody. The country told him to leave. He got in a boat. Nobody fired a shot. So today Parliament outranks the crown.
1791: 300,000 households stopped buying sugar grown by slaves. Then 1.3 million signed the biggest petition Parliament had ever seen. 1833, slavery ended across the Empire. โ๏ธ
Tolpuddle, 1834. 6 farm labourers swore an oath to stand together for a fair wage. The government shipped them to Australia for it. 800,000 of us signed. They came home. ๐ณ
The vote. 3 petitions, millions of names, 3 times refused. They kept coming back. So today every one of us has it.
1889: 100,000 London dockers stopped work for sixpence an hour. 5 weeks. The port stood still. They got it. So today there's a floor under every wage in the country.
Dunkirk, 1940. The army trapped on a beach, the Germans a day away. The radio asked anyone with a boat to come. 700 did. Fishermen. Ferrymen. A man in his weekend cruiser. They brought 300,000 men home. โต
Live Aid, 1985. A famine, a million about to die. 1 man, a telephone, 6 weeks. 2 billion watched. ยฃ150 million.
2012: 70,000 of us ran the Olympics for nothing. 2020. The NHS asked for volunteers. 750,000 of us signed up in a day.
Every time, the other side had the money, the guns or the crown. Every time, we had each other. And every time, that was enough. ๐ค
They teach you the kings. They never teach you the crowds that made them sign.
That's what Proud Of Us is for. No sponsors. No ads. No agenda. Just the crowd.
We've never lost when we stood together. So let's stand together. ๐ https://t.co/rih7iKwVkN

@models_by_Russ What are your views on making a batch of Yorkshire puddings and freezing the ones left over instead of throwing them out? I was told by a Yorkshire lady this is worse than eating Aunt Bessieโs frozen Yorkshire puddings! ๐คฏ
You've had a weekend every week of your life. ๐ฌ๐ง
Nobody told you where it came from.
The lie-in. The Saturday game. The Sunday roast. โฝ
All of it began in the cotton towns of Lancashire.
And it started with a whistle.
1840: A mill hand worked 6 days a week. 12 hours a day.
Sunday was for church. Saturday was just another shift.
So the workers took Monday off instead. They called it Saint Monday. ๐บ
The owners called it idleness. They docked their wages for it.
But a mill can't run without its hands.
So the mills and the mill hands made a deal.
Turn up on Monday. And on Saturday, the whistle goes at 2.
1850: Parliament made it the law.
Every mill in Britain stops at 2 on a Saturday.
Half a day. All their own.
The other half day followed, trade by trade, over the next century.
And what do you do with a free Saturday afternoon?
You play football.
The whistle went at 2. So kick-off was at 3. It still is. โฐ
1879: A magazine printed a strange new word from Staffordshire: week-end.
The world had no word for it. Because the world didn't have one.
America was still working Saturdays in the 1920s. Lancashire had stopped at 2 for 70 years.
Every weekend on earth started at a mill gate in the north of England.
They teach you the mills.
They never teach you that ordinary mill hands made Saturday happen.
Nobody told you where it came from.
It came from ordinary British people.
That's what Proud Of Us is for.
The mill hands made a deal and kept it. So do we. No sponsors. No ads. No agenda. Just people like you.
Send this to someone who's off today.
They gave you your Saturday. Give them a minute of it. ๐

Dame Edna looks down at her own outfit, asks if sheโs overdressed, then turns to Judi Dench and Sharon Osbourne and goes โwhat funeral have you just been to?โ
The way she says it like sheโs genuinely concerned for them, not even trying to land a punchline, is filthy. They both lose it immediately.
Nobody else could look at two women sitting on a talk show sofa and casually suggest they look like theyโve just buried someone, and still have the whole room roaring with her.
They call the English a mongrel people... ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐ฌ๐ง
The science says something better. ๐งช๐จโ๐ฌ
In 2015 scientists in Oxford tested 2,039 people. Only people whose 4 grandparents were all born within 50 miles of each other. So the map they drew wasn't Britain today. It was Britain in 1885. Before anyone moved.
17 groups across these islands. ๐บ๏ธ Cornwall. Wales in pieces. The north. Scotland in pieces. Orkney. And the English were one. One people from Kent to Yorkshire. One group, where everywhere else on the map was many.
So where did they come from?
In 2022 they went to the graves. โฑ๏ธ 278 people who died here 1,500 years ago. They read what was in them. 3 streams.
The Britons who were already here before the Romans. The families who crossed the North Sea after the Romans left. Whole families. As many women as men. Not a wipe-out. They married in. And a third stream from across the Channel, over centuries.
3 streams. 1 river. ๐ By the Middle Ages the mixing had settled. The map of 1885 still showed it, 900 years on. Same fields. Same church. Same names on the gravestones.
That's not a mongrel. A mongrel is a mix nobody meant. This is a recipe. 3 ingredients. 1,000 years to set. ๐บ
And here's the part that matters. A lineage isn't a wall. It's a line. People who kept the same place and the same ways, then handed them on. The Normans joined it. The Huguenots joined it. Anyone can. The price is keeping it.
They teach you the English are a mixture. So is every people on earth. What they don't teach you is what it became. 1,500 years on the same ground. Not many can say that.
That's why Proud Of Us is here. To teach the next generation who we really are. No sponsors. No ads. No agenda. Just people like you.
If you can, stand with us. If you can't, send this to someone who's never been told.
They said mongrel. That doesn't change a thousand years of lineage. It just means nobody told them.
Let's teach our next Generation the truth.๐

Dame Edna sits down next to Charles like she booked the royal box herself, pats Camillaโs hand, then gets tapped on the shoulder.
โIโm so sorry. Theyโve found me a better seat.โ
Charles doesnโt politely chuckle. He properly loses it. That face is the entire punchline.
Nobody else could have said that in that room and made a future king look that happy.
๐จBREAKING: The illegal migrant camp planned for Piddington may be CANCELLED due to a protected species of NEWTS being found on the site
So let me get this straight...
The Government care more about the safety of NEWTS than Women and Girls?
