@Elohim_Gadol@Annchap43858665 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will HEAL their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14
Come on South Carolina. Today is the best opportunity you will ever have to retire Lindsey Graham.
Get off the couch, go vote, and take your friends/family with you.
When God chooses you, almost nobody will understand why, and somebody will oppose you.
When God chose Jacob, only his mother understood why. His uncle Laban was jealous of it. His brother Esau hated it. His father reasoned the eldest should be chosen. But his mother Rachel favored him, not Esau. She understood God had chosen him from the womb, before either did good or bad.
When God chose Joseph, only his father understood why. His 10 brothers vehemently opposed the favor on his life. They hated the divine endorsement he received through dreams and his father’s favor. Jacob understood Joseph was different.
When God chose Isaac, only his wife understood why. His father hoped both sons would be equally chosen. His brother Ishmael teased him and didn’t support him. His mother Sarah was so attached to him that she died the day of the Akedah (Abraham offering his son as a sacrifice) and Isaac didn’t get married till after Sarah died. His wife Rebekah favored him, believed he was chosen before seeing him, and trusted completely in his calling and destiny.
When God chose David, only the prophet Samuel understood why. His father thought God would choose one of his seven older sons. David’s name did not even come to mind. David was forgotten by his father. His eldest brother mocked him at the battlefield with Goliath. His nephew Joab constantly disobeyed him. His best friend Ahithophel betrayed him. Samuel was the only one who understood David as a man after God’s own heart.
Lessons:
1) You only need one person to believe in you and favor you.
2) You will have many enemies if you’re called and chosen by the LORD. It is a fact of life.
3) Don’t be arrogant but humbly acknowledge God’s choice for everybody is the best. Covet no one else’s title, position, income, belongings, etc.
4) Sometimes He chooses you because your parent or forefather prayed for you. You are living off covenantal grace. You are the benefactor of a godly heritage you inherited. It’s divine nepotism. Be very grateful and work even harder to obey. Make God and your forefathers proud.
Deuteronomy 7:7-9 (KJV - why God chose Israel) 7 The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: 8 But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
There is one hope that never changes.
Jesus died for us, paying the full penalty for our sins, and giving us a way back into relationship with the Father.
I'm resting in that truth today.
