The Liverpool analysis is being overcomplicated now. What we witnessed against Newcastle was the consequence of pairing a runner and a carrier in a double pivot following a shortened pre-season under a new manager. It was entirely predictable. There will be teething issues.

Barcola x Mbaye, then go out and get Ezri Konsa in the final few days of the window and that’s an incredible window from Richard Hughes.

Midfield-wise, we can wait until next summer. Iraola’s system should be given a chance to bring Mac Allister and Gravenberch back to the levels they’re capable of.

If Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott are sold too, we should be able to recoup a lot of money that we can put towards Konsa.
