Last night was our big wrapping party for Firefighter Santa. This is the first time in 3 years we have been able to have this event due to COVID. We had over 60 people at the event wrapping packages for Santa. THANK YOU to everyone that participated in this event.
This week the BJFD had the opportunity to interact with the firefighter class at the Eastland/Fairfield Career Center. The crews were able to demonstrate safe and effective extrication techniques.Crews got extensive time using our extrication equipment along side the students.
Today our 2 unit crew was able to spend some time with the Liberty Christian Academy Preschool at Now Church to add to their fire prevention week discussions.
Today we were excited to have the pre-K kids from Kids Zone come and visit us at Station 610. The kids got to see the station, trucks and a firefighter in his gear.
BJFD had the honor of swearing in 3 full-time members.2 of the members have been functioning in their current positions for some time and one member was being sworn in do to a open position due to a transfer. Congratulations to Lt. Andy McCord, FF Braden Powers and FF Reed Farmer
This week the BJFD conducted our annual water rescue training at the Baltimore Pool. All 3 crews spent time working on skills of water rescue for summer and winter operations. Thanks to the Village of Baltimore for allowing us the time to train.
Today the BJFD distributed "bleeding control kits" the @LULions.These kits are designed to help care for an individual with uncontrolled bleeding in the event of an emergency. Thank you to the Fairfield County Healthcare Coalition for funds to provide these kits to our schools.
All required inspections are complete for the start of the Baltimore Festival this evening. The BJFD provides a fire inspector to the festival for no fee to assure the festival is successful and safe.
Members of the BJFD and Explorers, members from the Village of Baltimore and the Festival Committee set the main stage up this morning for the Baltimore Festival this week.
Basil crews are ready for fireworks tonight at Fairfield Fish and Game. Members were able to have a quick training with staff from Hamburg Fireworks about safety and how fireworks work.
Yesterday the BJFD was pleased to participate at the Christ United Methodist Preschool Truck Day. We had a great time participating with Baltimore Police Department, Alt Farms, Village of Baltimore Road Department, Unlimited Towing.
