Congratulations to five emerging Australian scientists who are the recipients of the Academy's J G Russell Award! 🎉The funding will help with costs involved in experimental research and can be used towards equipment, maintenance and travel.

The talented early-career scientists are drawn from diverse fields, including Dr Marcus Giansiracusa whose research @UniMelb is exploring novel applications of Australia's rare-earth mineral resources to make advanced technologies, including quantum computers, more efficient. The future of computing and electronics could be right under our feet!

Dr Alexandre Siqueira(@EdithCowanUni)—studying the history of coral reefs to identify factors that supported productive fish populations, aiming to inform current conservation efforts.

Dr Laura Williams(@westernsydneyu)—researching the origins and ecological consequences of the diverse eucalypt tree species across Australia using spectroscopic data and vegetation modelling.
