Pretty simple. The right is constantly inventing totally crazy scenarios of gotcha moments that won’t happen to create a sense of hysteria.
Here are the facts:
— A trans woman has never played in the WNBA. In 30 years.
— Trans women are barred from competing in women’s sports in the NCAA and the Olympics.
— 29 states have banned trans girls participation in women’s sports K-12.
— The Supreme Court ruled states can exclude trans girls from participating in women’s sports.
Y’all won. Y’all got it. So why is the right still crying and whining about an argument that is backed by law and policy at virtually every level?
Wait, I have an answer. They want to erase trans existence period and no amount of exclusion, degradation, or denigration will ever be good enough for them.
SO they create these dumb, illogical, stupid-ass scenarios because there actually isn’t enough there for them to make a salient point. It’s fear-mongering bullshit that is designed to create a hostile environment for trans people. It’s weak.
@jacksonrashby@EnesFreedom@WNBA Based on what? At his peak in the NBA he was mid. Nothing in his stats supports that he would pull anywhere near MVP numbers.
@SportyQvolume2@EnesFreedom@WNBA Me? I’m a nobody. I’m also not trying to join a premier sports league, so who cares who I am. Enes Freedom was mid at best. He was slow and couldn’t play defense to save his soul. There was reason the Rockets waived him just four days after getting him in a trade.
@Riley_Gaines_@espn “Essentially equivalent to genocide” is probably the most incredibly stupid comparison made on the internet today. So I guess congrats- you finally came in 1st place in something.
What to watch this weekend:
The Odyssey- if you haven’t seen it or haven’t seen it in IMAX this may be the time.
Spider-Man: BND- it smashed the box office last weekend for a reason. It’s fun. Go see it. Or see it again.
Cookie Queens: 91 minute documentary about 4 different Girl Scouts and how they prepare for, set goals for and then sell those cookies.
One Night Only: this one is charming and different. Worth checking out.
Movies to avoid:
Ice Cream Man: nothing redeemable about this slop of a movie. Do not give Eli Roth your money. All the animation in it was AI generated and on top of that- the film just is not good.
Super Troopers 3: this franchise has its cult following and regardless what I type here, they will go see this movie, and it will make money. For everyone else- this movie is just bad. It tries to be what you expect from an R-rated comedy- which are fewer and fewer these days. The sexual humor, the racial humor, the off color stuff is absolutely expected- but all of it just falls flat. Like I said, regardless of what anyone says, super fans will go see it. Everyone else- it is not worth your time or money.
What films are you considering checking out this weekend?

Sitting at work. Here some kid next to me on a customer call: “OMG! I just figured it out! That’s why they’re called that! The outlaw Jesse James and Team Rocket is Jesse and James!” Shouting like he found some nugget of nerd knowledge. At least he’s having a good Monday. #pokemon
For next week, I expect Michael to drop from the top ten- having had a phenomenal run. Supergirl will premier at number two behind Toy Story 5- which will have a drop off, but I expect it will be relatively small because of positive word of mouth and rewatchability. Jackass will do whatever Jackass does but will be somewhere in the top ten.
Here’s the domestic Box Office Top 10 for the June 19-21 weekend:
1. Toy Story 5 - $160M
2. Disclosure Day - $17M ($78m)
3. Obsession - $14.2M ($216M)
4. Backrooms - $7.3M ($175M)
5. Scary Movie - $6.7M ($98M)
6. Masters of the Universe - $5.6M ($57M)
7. The Mandalorian and Grogu - $3.9M ($172M)
8. Leviticus - $2.7M

Obsession and Backrooms continue to impress at $216 million and $175 million respectively. Backrooms is already a huge hit- and has a real shot of eclipsing $200 million. Mando and MOTU on the other hand continue to disappoint. Both continue to fall woefully short of expectations.
