We are thrilled to share the news that ACTRA Toronto Member Tonya Williams has been appointed to the Order of Canada!

One of the country’s highest civilian honours, the appointment recognizes Tonya's groundbreaking five-decade career in Canadian arts and culture, including her trailblazing work as one of the first Black performers on Canadian television, and her tireless advocacy for inclusion, equity, and community-led storytelling in the film and television industry. Tonya is the founder, executive and artistic director of @reelworldfilm Screen Institute and Reelworld Foundation and has helped build a diverse screen industry and has left an indelible mark on Canadian and international entertainment.
