Exactly my point. I’m so frustrated- single mums hv every right to passports for their kids. My kid needs a passport to travel with me and looks like we’ll hv to wait till he’s 18 to apply as an adult. @passportsevamea @DrSJaishankar @PMOIndia

Why do #singlemothers have to go through such torture? What kind of cynical rules & age-old patriarchal norms treat #mothers as criminals! Mothers do not need anyone else's permission to take their children with them. This is a clear message that should go out. @DrSJaishankar

7 yrs after law for single mothers right to a child’s passport, I continue to be hassled by passport officials for bribes to grant a renewal for my son 1.5 yrs after applying

The father has no involvement in our lives, doesn’t financially support my son even for education and yet my custody is not enough. The #law maybe in my favour but #corruptpassportofficials continue to hassle single mothers

All papers of divorce and custody in place and resent over email twice. Now I’m being asked to provide my ex husband’s residence proof and an email by him requesting renewal PLUS 70 K Rs.
