I hope they contest. Ground zero has a funny way of teaching people that Twitter clout and votes are two very different things.

They may discover they’re simply the new-age Yogendra Yadav and Rakesh Tikait big online, very different at the ballot box.

The SC/ST Act was enacted in 1989. The 2018 amendments can absolutely be criticised, but reducing every legal issue to “Modi did this” looks increasingly like an election-season hit job ahead of UP.

If they believe the public agrees with them, there’s an easy test:

Contest. Win votes. Prove it.
