@PompeyPedro I get the sentiment but the narrative is more “we’re pushing up the table” rather than “we’re aiming to compete with the second worst clubs” - progress is progress I suppose
@pfc_sam @HancockAnalysis I suppose I don't fully understand the rationale (are BC a bigger club, really?) but then I have no idea what's being proposed to him and what the restrictions are he's working under at Pompey. Quite possible BC have proposed a serious promotion / PL push over 2-3 years.
@HancockAnalysis Hull came to FP on the final day of last season on the brink of relegation to League One and now they're in the playoff final. Things can change quickly.
@HancockAnalysis Surely it's not a done deal and this could be purely exploratory/leverage to show Mous is serious about progress - but that progress could also come at Pompey if the conditions are met.
@HancockAnalysis The issue perhaps is that the board may point to the players we have spent more on tending to underperform or not work out (so far anyway) - Koznovsky, Knight, Umeh. It's the frees or the loans that have been way more successful.
@HancockAnalysis Undeniably he’s a difference maker when he’s on the pitch. But he’s not on the pitch very much. Which doesn’t make him enough of a difference maker. So yeah. Probably a sensible move really.
@HancockAnalysis It does appear as if our strategy is:
Plan A (summer): sign younger/developmental prospects and see what sticks
Plan B (winter): if that's not gone well, sign out of favour Championship performers to get us out of trouble
@66288thxhs9w877@HarvMarksy I guess the optimistic view is that the ownership are proven investors in the infrastructure and it can't all be done overnight. Is it fair to say the gulf between L1 and C has become bigger and bigger in the 7 years we were away - we have a lot of catching up to do.
@HarvMarksy Don't get me wrong - a critical analysis is going to have to be done of our summer business, much of which looks substandard. The squad looks poorer than it was at this stage last season but I do believe we'll scrape it.
