We don’t come to Christ because we’re healthy, but because we come because we need the Physician of Our Souls.

Jesus said, "They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick." (Matthew 9:12)

People come to church carrying wounds, doubts, shame, addictions, questions and regrets.

They don't need a place that pretends everyone is fine. They need Christ.

Jesus said: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." ( Matthew 11:28)

Today is the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Church generally celebrates saints on their day of death, making earthly birthdays usually reserved only for Our Lord (Christmas), John the Baptist (24/06), and Mary (08/09).

Today, 29 August, Holy Mother Church commemorates the Martyrdom of Saint John the Baptist, a day set apart in the Christian calendar to contemplate the mystery of martyrdom and the total surrender of oneself to God.

Unlike his Nativity, celebrated on 24 June, today’s feast recalls the Saint’s unwavering witness to faith, truth and courage.

Saint John the Baptist remained faithful to his prophetic mission, uniting his destiny to that of Christ through his own sacrifice, when he was beheaded at the command of King Herod Antipas.

Sancte Iohannes Baptista, ora pro nobis.
