I used to be such a champion for YouTube but it's become one of the worst platforms. They roll out a ton of AI features nobody asked for and it feels like every new feature just ends up breaking existing ones. Their support is non-existent.
@JoblessGarrett I was wondering why I blocked that dude and remembered it was because he was one of those "If there's all these guilds, why isn't there a Christian guild?"
And here we go with the annual, "but whit ppl!" and "this is segregation!" comments under a unity guild announcement, so I'm just going to be brutally honest. Cis white men do not have to work as hard for an audience. Unity guilds give assistance and opportunities to those trying to build their channels, but not SO MUCH support that it pushes you, poor little majority, out of the way, but to level the playing field. The truth is: algorithms are racist because the majority of the audience on Twitch has a bias.
Take my gaming community, Dead By Daylight, for example, and look for any highly viewed channel that isn't a cis straight man. Don't see many, huh? Now look at all the highest-viewed channels. Then look at their collabs. Do you see many women? Do you see many LGBTQIA+ people? Do you see many people of color? You sure don't. That doesn't mean they are phobic or bigots, and that doesn't mean they don't work hard or don't deserve their audience. It just clearly shows a bias, and the only way we can combat that is to start guilds with Twitch to even the playing field for us to be successful, IF WE APPLY OURSELVES.
The reason why you aren't successful as a cis straight white man on Twitch is that you do not want it enough, and you do not work hard. Not because of Unity Guilds. Everybody works hard for what they have. SOME just have to work a little less harder than others because the algorithm is on their side. That's really it.
50+ shows into 2econd Wrestling and sometimes it feels like we are still chasing this moment. This is when we knew we were in for a ride!
