@RadioLento @craftygreenpoet @LocavoreCIC Yes I remember that. It was lockdown I think. Hope all is well. The Newington shop is still doing well but it's definitely tough out there.
@Stuartpendous @craftygreenpoet @LordWoolamaloo@LocavoreCIC Yeah totally. People are really struggling right now. Buying by weight can help budget though but never going to compete with Lidl. We will hang in there and hopefully still be around when times are better for all....whenever that will be 🙄
@Stuartpendous @craftygreenpoet @LordWoolamaloo@LocavoreCIC We regularly price check and we are definitely not UNBELIEVABLY expensive. We will never be as cheap as Tesco but all suppliers are paid a fair price. Buy better but buy less. We still waste 1/3 of the food we buy in the UK!
Once upon a time, Coke’s bottles were an environmentalist's dream: stylish glass bottles washed and reused over and over, leaving no pollution.
Today #CocaCola is the world’s biggest #Plastic producer and polluter.

I found this poem my Simon Heywood quite thought provoking.
I was saddened to hear that it had been bizzarely chopped down. But ancient trees are felled all the time so why are we so upset about this one when we should be angry about all of them ?
What's your point of view?
Our new opening times start from Monday 18th September, so you can pop in early for some fresh bread or pastries on your way back from the school run or on your way to work :)
No changes to the opening times of our other shops.
Thank you for continuing to support our shops 💚
My father’s words to students at the University of Kansas in 1968 at the start of his presidential run are equally applicable today. Like me, my father was running against a war waged by a Democratic incumbent President of his own party and the entire ferocious infrastructure of the Democratic Party, the liberal establishment that despised him, and the corporate media led by the New York Times, which was indignant at his candidacy.
“Our Gross National Product, now, is over $800 billion dollars a year, but that Gross National Product - if we judge the United States of America by that — that Gross National Product counts air pollution and cigarette advertising, and ambulances to clear our highways of carnage. It counts special locks for our doors and the jails for the people who break them. It counts the destruction of the redwood and the loss of our natural wonder in chaotic sprawl. It counts napalm and counts nuclear warheads and armored cars for the police to fight the riots in our cities. It counts Whitman's rifle and Speck's knife, and the television programs which glorify violence in order to sell toys to our children. Yet the gross national product does not allow for the health of our children, the quality of their education or the joy of their play. It does not include the beauty of our poetry or the strength of our marriages, the intelligence of our public debate or the integrity of our public officials. It measures neither our wit nor our courage, neither our wisdom nor our learning, neither our compassion nor our devotion to our country, it measures everything in short, except that which makes life worthwhile. And it can tell us everything about America except why we are proud that we are Americans.”
@DeborahMeaden Totally agree but sadly lots of eco businesses are struggling as they are still working within a linear system that promotes convenience over doing the right thing.
We need more support for smaller businesses that are helping to be the change we need. It's tough out there
@ElizCro The reason we cancelled your order is due to your aggressive messages and general attitude towards a company that was genuinely trying to help you find the product you wanted.
@ElizCro Sadly it seems the company who makes these may no longer be trading. Not our fault. We don't take any payment until goods are despatched and can prove it and have not purposely indicated product for sale that is not in stock. We have over 2000 products lines.
@ElizCro We then contacted you this morning to advise that we hadn't heard from the supplier. This was met with aggressive messages from you, which I'm happy to share on here if you like. We have done are upmost to try and help you get the product that you wanted...
@ElizCro We advised that we would wait 2 days and if we hadn't heard we would cancel the order. This was yesterday. Last night you sent a message asking for an update. We don't reply in an evening as we are human beings with lives and families...
@ElizCro You ordered 2 items that we didn't have enough stock of. We offered to contact the supplier for you which you thanked us for in your message. We then sent you a further update, saying we hadn't heard from the supplier yet and advised if we hadn't heard from them ...
@GeorgeMonbiot My journey to become veggie began when I worked in food manufacturing and someone told me that pigs are very intelligent and can sense death. They start to panic when transported in trucks and get so distressed the fight with each other. It's barbaric...these poor creatures
