Cocoa is a useful agroforestry crop, which can enhance native biodiversity when planting along with native trees. From new research below, it looks like pollinators attracted by the native trees are also crucial for the cocoa - perhaps a rare win-win for agriculture and nature!
Thanks so much for the continued support @flamingolanduk. These funds help us to employ key staff for the charity, plus some of the costs that they need to manage and restore forests, and to support local communities. 🙏
We are pleased to announce that we have renewed our long-term commitment to saving threatened tropical forests with @ReforestAfr
Stay tuned for updates on how our support is helping the Reforest Africa Project in Tanzania!

We just finished refurbishing one of our offices as a new seed storage laboratory, thanks to funding from Fondation Franklinia. We are aiming to collect and germinate 200,000 native tree and liana seeds for restoration planting in 2024.
Third meeting of the Udzungwa-Kilombero Restoration Forum. Planning forest restoration across a 53,000 km-sq region in Tanzania, including a field visit to the new @ReforestAfr Udzungwa Botanic Garden.
Yesterday I visited some forest that we planted with @ReforestAfr six years ago, and another site planted just 2 years ago, with most trees still hidden in the grass. So much difference over just 4 years!
Chuffed beyond words and incredibly grateful to have started a new position with @rewild as ‘Africa Director’.
I will be working to develop and extend Re:wild’s work across this beautiful continent, and to help restore and protect African biodiversity, under African leadership.
✅ During Easter, using the opportunity given by the rain season, we planted trees in the Udzungwa Botanical Garden.
Thanks to @ReforestAfr, @PLinTanzania 🇵🇱 with friends had a chance to join the efforts of reforesting the Kilombero Valley in Central 🇹🇿.
Our tree-planting continues in Tanzania. This month we are planting around 100,000 native trees, starting with our new botanic garden and the Kilombero Elephant Corridor, with help from Fondation Franklinia, @flamingolanduk, @PLinTanzania & @RainforestTrust.
Our first camera trap photos from Magombera Nature Forest Reserve. A bush buck, sykes monkey and some wild pig! Excited to see the wildlife captured and look forward to more camera trap images over time. #caneratrapping#cameratrap#conservation#technology#wildlife#tanzania
✅We are planting trees in the 🐘🐘 corridor in the Kilombero valley 🇹🇿. @PLinTanzania 🇵🇱 joins hands with @STzElephants and @ReforestAfr to support the creation of the first wildlife corridor linking national parks in Tanzania.
