BREAKING: The ALU Democratic Reform Caucus slate won decisively in our union’s leadership elections. All 15 of our slate candidates—4 candidates for our union’s executive board, and 11 for our union’s constitution committee, have won the ALU-IBT Local 1 officer elections!
ALU-IBT LOCAL 1 REPRESENTATIVES TAKE OATH OF OFFICE IN D.C.
Teamsters General President Sean M. O’Brien on Thursday officially swore in the newly elected officers of the historic ALU-IBT Local 1.
The new Executive Board of the freshly chartered Teamsters local union in New York will represent more than 5,500 workers at Amazon’s JFK8 facility on Staten Island. ALU-IBT Local 1 will have jurisdiction throughout New York’s five boroughs. The local union representatives were elected on July 30. Earlier this summer, 98 percent of Amazon Labor Union members in New York resoundingly voted to affiliate with the Teamsters to help build worker power and take on Amazon nationwide.
ALU-IBT Local 1 representatives include President Connor Spence, Vice President Brima Sylla, Secretary-Treasurer Kathleen Cole, and Recording Secretary Sultana Hossain. They proudly took the oath of office at Teamsters headquarters in Washington, DC.
At the ATL6 @Amazon facility yesterday, USSW members rallied alongside Amazon workers, @forrespect, @Teamsters, @atldemsoc and other labor groups to raise Amazon workers demands for a safe workplace. #UnionsforAll
“After more than two years of fighting to reform our union to make it more democratic, transparent, and militant, we are relieved to finally be able to turn our full attention toward winning an incredible contract." —

Netanyahu is a war criminal.
So proud to see the mighty @uaw standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our @APWUnational and other unions demanding Netanyahu be arrested and held accountable for the genocide in Gaza.
It was wonderful to meet with our fellow Amazon workers from across the pond! For workers to win, our solidarity must be international. We're honored to be in this struggle with all of you in @GMB_union 🔥✊
Amazon Teamsters stand in solidarity with our siblings organizing with @GMB_union in the UK! Amazon workers across the globe are demanding respect and our fair share of the wealth we create. Our movement is growing and together we will win
Nearly half of Amazon's workers are injured leading up to and during Prime Day.
It's a monstrosity. It's immoral. It ought to be stopped.
We need to talk about Amazon Prime Day.

Today, #PrimeDay, Amazon ONCE AGAIN called the cops on its workers who make their billion dollar profits!
Connor Spence & @Teamsters organizers were ILLEGALLY arrested for participating—on public property—in an extension picket for the Amazon drivers on strike at DIL7. Shame!
📦🪧✊ It’s #PrimeDay and we just extended our unfair labor practices picket line to Amazon’s LDJ5 warehouse in New York City! We are Amazon drivers from Illinois holding Amazon accountable for violating federal labor law. Join us on the picket line!
Today, organizers from ALU Democratic Reform Caucus joined @warehouse_life for the Injured Amazon Worker Speak-out at Amazon’s corporate headquarters in Manhattan ✊ no one should face a lifetime of injury so that Amazon can continue making billions off our back-breaking labor
Amazon #PrimeDay is No Deal for Workers
In NY, 1 in 11 warehouse workers are injured each year. And we know injuries spike on Prime Day.
@GovKathyHochul: Sign the Warehouse Worker Injury Reduction Act into law before more workers get hurt on your watch. #ProtectWarehouseWorkers
Thank you to @warehouse_life for inviting ALU Reform Caucus members to share their stories about being injured on the job at Amazon. We’re going to continue standing up and speaking out for ourselves and each other to hold Amazon accountable #exposeAmazon
Our caucus formed as a rank-and-file movement to put power back in the hands of JFK8 workers and establish democracy in ALU for the fight against Amazon. We’re for the workers, by the workers. When you vote for the Democratic Reform Caucus, you are voting to take our power back.
The team last night for the pop-up pantry! As always, all the food went quickly and we had a lot of good conversations about officer elections with our coworkers.
Giving out free groceries to our coworkers at JFK8 is one of the most important things we do. The majority of us are barely scraping because Amazon refuses to give us a living wage. None of us should be going hungry while Amazon profits millions of dollars a day from our labor.
We are having our last luncheon tonight during RT shift, 12:30-1:15 am, in the 1st floor main break room at JFK8. Come grab some grub and don’t forget to vote!
