@NWSMilwaukee Is a damage assessment being done along county line as well? One watcher reported rain wrapped torando on the ground. Corn field damage east of Basse's farm. Multiple trees in surrounding neighborhood including one where the top 30' of a tree was broken off and flew 40'
@Badgers_44@ZachHeilprin Maybe we don't have amazing NIL, but Fick had top 25 recruiting classes. You can't blame a bottom feeder team with top 25 recruiting on the lack of recruiting support.
@ZachHeilprin@The_Camp_WI No problem. There's some really cool history in those 14 games. Pat O'Dea, Alan Ameche, Russell Wilson, Melvin Gordon's peak rushing season, neutral site games in Milwaukee and Chicago and more.
@BatmanJ27190203@AdamPage85 Elder/pastor/overseer are all the same office as described in v1. It seems like youre the one who is confused about offices. I'm exegeting the text rather than insisting on a meaning that doesn't fit the broader text
@BatmanJ27190203@AdamPage85 It's not referencing random women. It's referencing women that would fill the role of servant. Which is why Paul say likewise after "women" like he does with the male deacons in v8.
@BatmanJ27190203@AdamPage85 If something seems out of place (if a higher office has no requirements for wives) It's cause to more closely examine the text. We can't get a clear answer, but we can discover that maybe we were wrong in how we understood it.
@BatmanJ27190203@AdamPage85 Paul stated that deacon was an office. Then he gave qualifications for male deacons, then he gave qualifications for women.
@BatmanJ27190203@AdamPage85 I'm not inserting my meaning into the text. I'm examining the text to understand what it means. It's something that HAS to be done to understand when the text is not obvious, like 1Tim3:11 where Gynaikas could mean women or wives.
@BatmanJ27190203@AdamPage85 Yes your are. When you use scriputre to interpret scripture you are petitioning the text of scripture for an answer. In examining the text in context, you are asking God what he means rather than trusting your own understanding.
@BatmanJ27190203@AdamPage85 Those who serve are servants, whether the official office is being referenced or not. Not ever reference to servants is a reference to the office, sometimes its a reference to people who are serving.
@BatmanJ27190203@AdamPage85 A pastor is a shepherd. The office of pastor/elder also has authority over the church and is responsible for the preaching of the word and the administration of the communion and baptism. It's important to understand these responsibilities to know who God says can do them.
@BatmanJ27190203@AdamPage85 Not at all. We're saved in spite of our theology, not because of it.
But refusing theology is rejecting the command of scripture to teach and receive sound doctrine.
@BatmanJ27190203@AdamPage85 If you refuse that the word deacon in greek also means the task of serving outside of the office of servant then you necessarily have to accept women as deacons because that is how Phoebe is described.
@BatmanJ27190203@AdamPage85 Teaching and maintaining authority are the functions of an elder/bishop in the church so yes, it is a statement excluding women from the office of elder.
