Christian Apologetics will not save anyone, but it is always wise to clear the land before you sow the seeds. That’s exactly what Apologetics does. It clears away objections, so that the Gospel may be planted without as many obstacles in the way. Whether the soil we sow the seed in is good or not is God’s prerogative, and we leave that up to Him.
Why wouldn’t I invalidate every fight that was scored like that? I stated my position and it applies to past, present, and future fights, regardless of what the judges gave them.
In a nutshell, the judges got this one right. What they did in the past, I can’t change, I can only disagree with it.
Control matters when something comes out of the control more than being a backpack or a blanket.
@TjulfarLP@MMAFighting@JanBlachowicz How about significantly more significant strikes. Jan laid on his first round, and then had nothing for him the rest of the fight.
Presumption is the taking of a thing before it is given or offered.
When we presume upon God’s grace, it is as if we take God’s grace before He has given it to us, as though He owes it to us. This is a grace insult to the LORD.
Many Christians have deliberately disobeyed God, going into unequally yoked relationships, assuming that God will be gracious and convert the unbeliever. Why a Christian would assume God would bless their disobedience so richly is beyond any reasonable person, yet it happens all the time. Eventually, the Lord disciplines them, and they learn the hard way, which is the fool’s way, that God will not be mocked.
God’s grace is not owed. We don’t take it before God gives it. Our duty is to obey, and God has promised so many blessings with obedience, that we have no reason to ever try to take them.
In 2 Chronicles 34:4, Josiah sprinkled the dust of the idols on the graves of the people who sacrificed to those idols, showing that their idols were nothing more than what the idol worshippers are; dust.
Christians worship and serve the Living God, in Christ alone, the One who brings life, sees all, speaks and listens.
It’s not a matter of whether humans will worship or not, it is a matter of what or who they will worship. We become more and more like what we worship. Worship a blind, deaf, and mute idol, and you’ll become more and more spiritually blind, deaf, and unable to speak any spiritual truths.
It is better to be a Christian on their worst day than someone without Christ on their best day.
The miseries of this world are the worst it will ever get in all of eternity for the Christian, and the comforts of this world are the best it will ever get in all eternity for those who never know Jesus.
Thanks to the grace of God, there is still time in this very moment for the unbeliever to repent and believe in Jesus.
As long as women are giving to boyfriends the privileges that belong to husbands, the boyfriends will see no incentive in trying to become husbands.
There are women giving their boyfriends everything from their passwords to sex. The women do everything wives do for their husbands, yet the boyfriends never man up, but instead remain boys who keep their last name to themselves, and refuse to vow to a covenant in front of witnesses.
The standard should be if those guys want access to that kind of privacy and intimacy, they need to make a covenant. They need to marry. Nothing less is acceptable for an image bearer of God.
Love is patient, but that doesn’t mean love is tolerant of sin. We are to be patient with those who struggle with sin, and even those who are headlong into sin, living in it. But we should never give those people the impression that we are okay with their sin. They should know our firm stance on it, and should never feel comfortable with committing those sins around us.
None of the sinners whom Christ ate with would have been comfortable with committing sins around Him. He was there to them as a physician, not an enabler. That’s our role as well, as we are in Him, and He is in us.
One of my biggest regrets from my youth is having sex outside of marriage. By God’s grace, I have not had sex in about 11 years. I consider it to be high favor from the Lord, as it is certainly not by the strength of my own fallen flesh. I am resolved by the power of the Holy Spirit to wait until marriage, in which I will have the most joy and fulfillment. But I’ll never be able to give my future spouse the special gift of lifelong sexual purity up until the moment when her and I consummate the marriage.
If you have this wonderful gift, it is a major blessing to your future spouse. It is very special, and we all know how truly rare it is. There is great joy and many blessings that come with this gift. Don’t give it to someone who will not make a lifelong covenant with you. If they will not make a covenant with you in front of witnesses, do not give yourself to them in private.
As an image bearer of God, your value is too high for quick sinful pleasure that I promise will result in injury to your soul. God will not be mocked, there will be pain. If you are not yet married, and have given this gift away, now is the time to repent and turn to Him if you haven’t already.
Having sex does not make you married in God’s eyes, it makes you a fornicator. Being in love with each other does not make you married in God’s eyes, you’re just two people who have an emotional attachment to each other.
You are not married to a person until you both have made a covenant with each other in front of witnesses. Until then, you are simply like two kids that are playing house.
Love assumes the best of people, unless those people very clearly show that their intentions are otherwise. Christians, more than anyone else, should assume the best and purest of their spiritual brothers and sisters.
Evil always assumes the worst about people because evil cannot imagine doing anything without an evil intention. Evil sees someone feeding the homeless, and assumes it’s so that the helper can gain notoriety, or has some other ulterior motive. But love assumes that the person is helping them genuinely from the heart, and truly cares about their wellbeing. Evil sees someone sharing their own success, and assumes it’s out of a proud heart instead of a truly thankful, celebratory heart toward God. Evil sees someone using the gifts and skills God gave them, and assumes that person is doing it to boast or solely for their own glory.
Love hopes all things (1 Corinthians 13:7). It hopes the best out of an assumption of the best. Love is kind and patient, it doesn’t jump to wicked conclusions.
1 Corinthians 11:9
Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.
—If a person has a problem with this, it is because they do not understand it, they view it through a worldly lens, not a Biblical lens. Their problem is with God, first and foremost.
Man was made from the earth to subdue the earth, and woman was made from man to help the man. Men are conquerors, subduers, and women help them do it. It is God’s design. This is exactly why women are naturally more relational or people oriented, and men are more goal or mission oriented. When men get together, they usually talk about work or some mission they’re on, some task they’re trying to conquer. When women get together, they usually talk about people and their different kinds of relationships.
