Yesterday 6th of February was #commemoraction
Together with several other cities across Europe, we remembered those who have died at the French-UK border since 1999, and condemned the politics of securitised borders allowing for such tragedies.

Here is Rachel at our Info Maraude in the @caritasfrance centre. We aim to cover as many information gaps as possible on people’s rights here in Calais.
This way people can access updated information on services, other organisations, asylum rights in France and the UK.
Big shout out to @herts_refugees for their drop off of chairs!!! We will use them to provide alternative seating to the wooden benches at our charging/WiFi sessions in #Calais 🔌🪑🪑🪑

Our members Collective Aid are one of the few organisations distributing clothes, tents, hygiene items and more to displaced people in Calais. They've just launched their winter fundraiser - please support them if you can, and share!
A gazebo that shelters people while they access our service, in a rainy place like Calais, is very very important! Here are our volunteers repairing some damages. 💪⚒️
We must continue to support the 2000 people facing displacement, police violence and destitution at our borders
Two more water tanks destroyed last week. The tap of one of the @CalaisFoodCol tanks was burned off. Four drill holes were made into another IBC, making it unusable.
We won't be bullied. So long as displaced people suffer on the UK-France border, we'll work alongside them.
We need your old phones!!!!
Any previous (but still functional) phones you may have, or that your friends may have, are very valuable to us. People stranded in Calais rely on phones to contact their loved ones, find information, or just to distract from awful conditions.
Authorities have released their 23rd decree banning the distribution of food & water in certain streets.
As part of their policy of ‘zero fixation points’, the state continues to deploy evictions, harassment, and fines towards grassroots groups delivering essential services.
In February @guardian followed us on the field to document abusive French + UK “points of non-fixation” policies. These have continued for over 6 years, with evictions occurring up to every 36h, including through winter months.

July: the threat of the Rwanda deal, unbearable heatwaves, police harassment & intimidation have all worn down people’s physical & mental health. Despite funding cuts, our members continue to carry out essential and difficult work with vulnerable communities seeking safety.

The water situation in Calais is at breaking point, and the handful of grassroots organisations responsible for delivering water face constant obstruction by police and locals. Here's what we're doing about it. 🧵 (1/4)
🧵(3/4) These grassroots initiatives face constant harassment from police and occasional locals. Last month, our members Calais Food Collective had their water tanks stabbed 10 times.
