On Wed, Nov. 27, 1991, Hip Hop groups Leaders of the New School & Fu-Schnickens performed at Marquee in NY. Leaders of the New School, Charlie Brown, Dinco D, Cut Monitor Milo, & Busta Rhymes, hailed from LI & got their break after being chosen as an opening act 4 Public Enemy 🙌🏾

During the Golden Era, his awards show curated a space that exclusively showcased DJs (mixtape, club, touring, and radio). He would not let them be forgotten. So successful was his show, MTV called it “the GRAMMY Awards of the Streets.” 🙌🏾

The DJ has always been at the center of Hip Hop culture, however by the 1990s, those that spun started 2 fade into the background. A superhero named Justo Faison saw that plight & sought to change that— leading to the creation of Justos Mixtape Awards.
