Mark replied to the thread with a “receipt” from a cleaning company saying the floor had been inspected and was clear before I arrived.
It looked fake, but it was on official-looking letterhead.
Now Airbnb was asking me for “additional proof” or they’d charge my card on file. I sat there watching my bank balance, waiting for a support agent to join.
Almost a day passed. I barely slept. I kept checking my banking app every time my phone buzzed, worried they’d finally taken the $720.
The support agent I’d spoken to disappeared. Around 5 a.m., an automated email said my “dedicated case manager” was out of the office and would get back to me within two days.
Meanwhile, the $720 was sitting as a pending transaction on my card.
Then Mark texted around noon.
“Trying to use old Zillow photos to commit fraud. My lawyers have been notified. Good luck.”
I was actually scared.
Eventually, I got through to someone at Airbnb Support who looked at the attachments.
I sent the Zillow link again and said, “Look at the date on the listing. The burn is there. Look at my check-in video. The burn is still there.”
The agent went away for about seven minutes.
When she came back, she said they’d reviewed my video’s metadata and cross-referenced the historical listing.
Mark’s claim had been denied. The $720 hold on my card had been released.
I asked what would happen to him. She couldn’t give me details, but when I clicked his listing later, it showed “404 Page Not Found.”
I don’t know whether they removed the listing or his whole account, but I hope those cleaning receipts caught up with him.
I checked my banking app again. The pending charge was gone.
I’m still shaking from the adrenaline. Never staying in an Airbnb again. Hotels only.
It’s going unnoticed because so much other news is happening, but the war drums are beating again in D.C. The warmongers worry this is their last chance to get the white whale they’ve been chasing for thirty years, an all-out regime change war against Iran.
A new Middle East war would be a catastrophic mistake. Our military stockpiles are depleted from three years of backing Ukraine. Our effort to reshore manufacturing has only just begun and will take years to bear fruit. War would worsen our already immense deficit and national debt. Iran is larger than Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan combined. A war would not be easy and could easily become a calamity.
Thanks to President Trump’s restraint during his first term, America has a golden opportunity to pull away from Middle East quagmires for good. We shouldn’t throw that opportunity away so that sone D.C. has-beens can feel tough by sending young Americans to die yet again.
Cool, cool. Sure, it wasn’t for sale. That’s the narrative Art of Play is gonna go with 👍 so the whole conversation we had when I asked you if it was for sale whilst pointing to the price tag hanging on the wall with the title Singing Bird didn’t happen as you elevator eyed me saying in a condescending tone “yes, it’s for sale but it costs 15,000 dollars so if you’d like me to find something comparable for you I can.” That all never happened and now it’s not for sale. Okay, cool. So you’re not only rude, you’re also a liar. Got it ✅
And by the way, I obviously support small businesses because I was literally at a small business trying to purchase things. I love small businesses and know they are important and I always support them, but you don’t get a free pass to treat people less than in your store just because you are a small business. It’s not that hard to be kind. I never blast people but you my friend were an exception.
Your store is really cool.
Unfortunately, you aren’t.
Anyone remember the battle at Ai from the Book of Joshua? While we are contemplating the use of AI, we would do well to be steeped heavily in the Word of God and make sure we do things His way.
Just drove all the way to Brooklyn to check out this store I thought looked really rad and had a few things in mind to buy and literally was looked at as if I couldn’t afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me. Wow, dude. You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale. But y’all should go check out Art of Play in Brooklyn if you enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts character in Pretty Woman. For sure, check it out 👎
@elonmusk Wait, was there no educational opportunity prior to the internet? Who developed computers? Radio communication? Electricity? The telephone? Why not ask “why,” a country would not want its children to have free access to opposing cultures? 1 day in an American city: oh, got it!
7 things believers should remind themselves of every day:
1. God is my Father.
2. Christ is my Savior.
3. Heaven is my home.
4. Scripture is my guide.
5. Every believer is my family.
6. The gospel is my message.
7. God’s glory is my goal.
