Today would have been Daphne Sheldrick's 92nd birthday. My mother never set out to be a titan of conservation. She began the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to continue my late father’s vision, guided by a love for all wild creatures and a desire to make a better world for them. She weathered so many challenges in her time, but remained unwaveringly true to herself and her beliefs.
Building success on success, never straying from this mission, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust has grown into the far-reaching, multi-faceted conservation organisation we are today. I know Daphne and David would be so proud of all we have achieved.
It has been eight years since Daphne left us, but she remains in the forefront of our minds. She was an unassuming woman who achieved so much just by pursuing her passion for animals and the natural world.
Daphne always said, “You reap what you sow” — and my goodness, what has been sown over the years.

Last year at Pungwe,Michel told us what the autopsy report of S8 said:He got badly injured from hunting a buffalo that had gored his stomach/intestine area. As a result, bile was running out into his body and he was slowly but surely”poisoning” himself! There was no TB! #wildearth
I mentioned to Michel last year that I wondered because a vet friend was watching with me and said the guy looked like being poisoned.I sent in the comment and was then told not to put out such horrible rumors!I was afraid for S8 because I knew from guides in the Manyeleti that one of the Talamati females of S8 had been poisoned! But the poison this time was not from outside. Michel told us the whole story around S8…
@elize_roets Yes! Michel told us that he talked to James, telling him he should inform Cedric to inform the viewers about those findings, but somehow this never happened!
I remember that sighting as if it was yesterday! Our son Cedric and I were both sick from COVID, we were in the big bed in the Masterbedroom, watching this and both of us screaming “No!No!No!”…The pulse of both us went up quite a bit! #wildearth
@LIONLOVERS5 His name has always been Chinya. Matt made a mistake back in time when introducing him as Nchinya. He had misunderstood the ones who named him. When in the Manyeleti last year, everyone called him Chinya.I have told so many people, but was ignored…
Kambula subadults!!
Great to see some of them again!
I read on Facebook that there are 10 sub-adults alive. We know 3 boys are in Kruger and then you have 3 boys and 4 girls in Sabi Sands.
Sired by the Ndzhenga males.
