Your party should have spent money on infrastructure instead of blowing through a budget surplus, adding ridiculous new departments like the “resettlement agency” for all the immigrants - oh and these signs you guys put up all over the state 8 years ago. I’m not saying there are not some amazing educators out there - but I spend a lot of time explaining the concept of barriers to entry and salaries to my business students. The more skill and training and sophistication a profession requires directly correlates to wages. It’s not that teachers aren’t “worth more” - but honestly anyone can get in the door. My college roommate - education major - would cry about her assignments - one of which was writing a colorful name tag for herself. This is the problem. There’s no standards.
