What will be the impact of US-Israel v Iran on #lka? I looked at the data to understand how supply chain disruptions will affect 🇱🇰
⛽38% of oil is imported from UAE. UAE has reduced production & is also unable to get any shipments out. CPC says we have 1 months of stocks
This is extremely poor. The opposition bloc is not centrist leaning and definitely not left leaning. It contains some very right wing candidates. In temrs of policy regarding Palestinians there is little difference at all

Yet again, there is no @LAUGFS gas ("kaha" cylinders, as the public calls them) in the market, unless truckloads of them were distributed yesterday, before this post. This has gone on for weeks. It is mindboggling how this is allowed to happen, time and again. Many households have only Laugfs and it is a battle for survival every few months. Some action needs to be taken. Have they ever been penalised? @WasanthaSamar15@anil_jayantha #SriLanka

#SriLanka's proposed new NGO legislation imposes an obligation on NGOs to “align with the policies of the government” and “not engage in any activity that adversely affects the sovereignty or territorial integrity of Sri Lanka or violates the provisions of the Constitution”.
NGOs cannot “induce or cause any public disorder which affects the safety and interests of the general public”.
They must not engage in “any advocacy to support political ideologies using funds and resources of the non-governmental organisation during a period of pre-election or, unless it is an object of such non-governmental organisation”.
NGOs must also use their funds “only for the purposes it was registered” and notify the Competent Authority “prior to initiation of any crowdfunding activity”.

This is a good breakdown of a politicians assets declaration, this kind of analysis is important to combat corruption. Just FYI the Anti Corruption amendment Bill of 2026 would make such analysis a criminal offence [Clause 11(2)] https://t.co/iFhPYdbwtI (1/4)
. @RajapaksaNamal declared assets far in excess of the bribes he is alleged to have taken. His and his wife’s jewels alone are worth over Rs 100m. Dowry substantial. Foreign travel paid for by Limini’s father, yet NR advanced Rs 30m to his f‑i‑l https://t.co/wWLCIbtEOj
This is deeply disturbing but we must bear witness. Mohammed Al-Najjar's children are weeping over his body in this footage. The reason he is in a shroud is that he was missing his head after Israel murdered him. But will this be picked up widely in Western media? Of course not.
🇮🇳 Israeli-run cafes in India have been denying entry to Indians, AJ+ reports.
Many of the establishments sit in backpacker hubs popular with young Israelis, often fresh out of military service. In Kasol, a Himachal Pradesh village dubbed "mini Israel," Indian visitors have described being turned away from cafes in their own country. The controversy has simmered for more than a decade, with Indian media reporting similar refusals as early as 2015.
The reports come as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government has drawn India closer to Israel than ever. India is now Israel's largest weapons buyer, bilateral trade has grown from $200 million in 1992 to more than $6 billion, and thousands of Indian workers were recruited to replace Palestinian laborers after October 7, 2023.
In February, Modi made his second visit to Israel and addressed the Knesset as Israeli strikes on Gaza and the genocide continued despite the ceasefire.
