Proud to be an AHP consultant led unit, working together with excellent ward doctor and ANP support and acute telephone support as required. Good patient satisfaction, good outcomes and high quality care #distributedleadership#newmodelsofcare
Are AHP consultant rehab units safe?
We compared acute transfers from our rural community hospital based rehab unit and only had 11 in the whole of 2023, lower than many community hospital wards. Many other medical issues were successfully managed on site. (We take pws with NG)

Huge thank you to the Friends of Yeatman Hospital who supplied our team with Easter eggs today by means of thanks for all we do. We’re very lucky to be supported by such a supportive and generous group @RehabRowan@DorsetHealth
A lovely celebration thanking the team for a year of fantastic collaboration between @DCHFT and @DorsetHealth providing stroke and neuro rehab at the Yeatman Hospital @louiseclark15 @anitahynch @HelenPersey
Very sad to see @PhysioJem leave us today. One of the original team that bought the unit to where it is now. Thank you Jemma for all you’ve done and good luck in Southampton. Such a great opportunity for you. You’ll be missed
Plans in our team to include sex on a ‘would you like support or information on any of the following….’ Checklist to be given to patients and relatives, to be included in our stroke education group and just more on our radar to be mindful and discussed more openly with patients
Today a patient asked for a therapy uniform t-shirt so he was part of the rehab team whilst he was with us! What a fantastic idea!!! Putting the patient at the centre of their therapy team
What motivates our patients to keep pushing on in their stroke rehab? Last Friday was a ladies 1st taste of fish& chips since Aug. Today was amazing messages of support and well wishing for recovery from @GaryMabbutt61 & @josemourinhotv thank you! Meant the world to our patient
The team finishing off the week with ‘music and movement’. Here’s our lower limb/standing station in action. (Patient consented video being taken and shared)
Great having @Ad_Nicholls, @DCHFT Dep divisional dir & Sonia Gamblen, divisional head of nursing & quality visit us today to hear from the staff how they’ve found the first 3 months of our new unit. Example of collaboration with @DorsetHealth & what’s possible on a non acute site
Great joint working between SLT & our kitchens today- education, creativity and a joint ambition to give a range of choices to those on modified diets. Our div. director of nursing & quality recently spent the day on modified diet/ fluids to better understand what we ask of pts
Today was a good day! Some electric wh/chair practice for neglect, debriefs re 2 complex cases, & experimenting with the kitchens to up our purée game!! Here’s our lovely Janine with her pineapple, cranberry & apple juice purée pudding (she’s trying to look like she’s smiling!)
Really loving how the team and patients have embraced our new rehab approach at @rowanrehab. Soon to add a whole ward counter for the weekly total as you come into the unit #intensity#promotingindependentpractice Well done team
Day three of our new unit- first patients arrived, all registered on my stroke guide, goal setting sessions completed, family meetings booked and socially distanced group programme planned! Exciting times!!
