One of my best friends passed away today. His mother called me crying and asked me to let people know. It's with a heavy heart that I have to say my dear friend @TaoOfForest / @SpottedSqueak has passed away suddenly.
We’re raising funds to honor @Dragoneer's legacy & support his mother during this challenging time. Donations will directly assist with medical bills, funeral costs, etc. Let’s show our love & appreciation for all Neer has done. Thank you for your support https://t.co/CcGQepbbVa
So rest in peace @Dragoneer.
I hope to God or whoever you believe in, that the Healthcare system in the U.S. leave your grieving loved ones alone and don't chase them down like the rabid dogs they inevitably will be.
And always remind those closest to you, that you love them.
I am also reminded of my husband's mother, who I feel was also let down by the medical staff who were supposed to be treating her.
She was rushed into the emergency room for heart failure and given a stent in, what should be in modern times, a routine procedure.
I believe that, because she was on Medicaid and not paying some expensive insurance company, that she was given subpar treatment which condemned her to a horrific and traumatic death.
While I live in the UK, I shall not preach that the NHS is anywhere near a decent service. But at the very least I know, I won't be considering if my life is worth the burden of a medical bill, and visiting a hospital or GP.
Firstly, my condolences to all those close to @Dragoneer. I only knew of you for the art you commissioned and the site you kept alive.
Like so many of us furries, FA was my entry into the Fandom many years ago. Even after 15 years, it's still my go to site for all things Furry.
Secondly, It angers me greatly that citizens in the U.S have to decide between getting medical attention and putting themselves into extreme debt.
No modern, first world country should bring that stress and grief to a person, just because they needed to visit a doctor.
For those not from Virginia, or just unaware, @uvahealthnews SPECIFICALLY is infamous for ruining patients’ lives with aggressive debt collection lawsuits. They steal sick people’s paychecks, homes, and lives—exploiting patients’ most vulnerable moments.
