Hajjat Safina Mutumba representing the director of basic and secondary education in the @Educ_SportsUg emphasized that menstrual hygiene is not just a health issue, but an education, dignity, and equality issue affecting thousands of girls across Uganda.
She highlighted that many girls still miss school due to lack of sanitary materials, inadequate WASH facilities, stigma, and limited psychosocial support, calling for stronger accountability and sustained investment in menstrual health for learners.

“There is nothing you want to do that you cannot do.” 💜
@NwanneObahor told us to keep showing up every day and use the tools we already have. That’s the energy we’re starting this week with. Happy Monday!

Today, we celebrate young women who have successfully completed six months of training in Domestic Electrical Engineering, Tailoring, Plumbing, and Automotive Mechanics under the EU-UN @GlobalSpotlight Gender for Development program.
Through skills development, mentorship, and hands-on learning, these young women are now better equipped for employment, entrepreneurship, and independent futures.
As Smart Girls Uganda, we are proud to be part of a journey that continues to empower girls and young women through opportunities supported by the Spotlight Initiative.

In partnership with @karagirlug, we carried out a community engagement and EcoJua SmartBag distribution activity at Kanawat Primary School in Kotido as part of the EcoJua SmartBags Post Accelerator Project supported by MAJI Fund and @SiemensStiftung through the cewas Accelerator.
The activity focused on menstrual health awareness, supporting girls in underserved communities, and distributing 20 EcoJua SmartBags to 20 girls.
The bags, containing reusable sanitary pads, solar bulbs, and other essential supplies, are aimed at helping girls manage their periods with dignity and continue pursuing their education with confidence.
#MenstrualHealth #EndPeriodPoverty
Behind every EcoJua SmartBag is a girl learning, creating, and building a future for herself.
Through skills training and menstrual health advocacy, we are empowering young women with practical opportunities while creating reusable solutions that promote dignity and confidence. 🌸

Watching the young girls especially the vulnerable ones empowered by @smartgirlsug reminds me that:
Empowerment to a vulnerable girl means discovering that her story doesn’t end with her struggles it begins with her courage. #IWD026#girlswithtools#rewritingherstory.
Congratulations to our Founder and CEO, Jamila Mayanja , on being selected as a 2026 Fellow of the #AfricanVisionaryFellowship by the @SegalFoundation.

Engineering shapes sustainable societies, but talent exists everywhere, opportunity does not.
By equipping young women with technical skills, we expand innovation and problem-solving for communities and economies.
World Engineering Day reminds us that inclusive skills create lasting impact.

An alpha female with grace, courage, and relentless purpose. She doesn’t just lead, she opens doors and holds them for others. She builds people, not just programs.
Congratulations. The world is simply catching up to what we’ve always known. #WomenInLeadership#GiveToGain
We are proud to celebrate our CEO, @jamila_mayanja , for being named among @kfc’s 55 Outstanding African Women, honoured to mark #IWD2026 under the theme Give to Gain.
