Expansion is a horrible idea for the NHL unless they want watered down rosters and a worse product. They need to do a much better job taking care of their existing markets before expansion is even remotely considered.
As the NHL Board of Governors meet in NY today, sources tell me and @PatMcAfeeShow there could be news regarding NHL expansion in Texas. Sounds like Austin or Houston could be starting the process soon..
It's hard to me decide which is worse: this or the pitch clock. The Rockies were actually the first team to do this more than a decade ago. It's horrible. Zero chance of getting to the game on time. This is no upside to 6:40 in my opinion. None.
What started as a modest shift by the Phillies — from 7:05 PM to around 6:40 PM — has quickly become a league-wide trend.
Today, the majority of weeknight games begin before 7 PM, up from just 42% in 2021 to as high as 76% early this season.

Sat in south stands. Counted 23 cops needed to break up a fight during MNF against the Raiders. Another game a drunk guy fell down six rows into me, then proudly held up his beer and yelled “I didn’t spill any!” Absolutely no one was ever allowed to come and go during play.
I need to hear stories of my bronco friends attending the old mile high. What was gamedays like and what was the craziest thing that you have witnessed while being in the stands during home games? 👂

Bombshell: The Browns are finalizing a trade that will send two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams, per @rapsheet, @TomPelissero and me.
In exchange for Garrett, the Rams are expected to send Pro-Bowl edge Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick and other draft-pick compensation still being negotiated to the Browns.
The top five NFL players who earned the most licensing income from the 2025 NFL season:

No Avalanche press conference today on Jared Bednar’s future.
Pushed to Monday or Tuesday.
If they knew they were keeping him, this would’ve been done already.
This long, awkward silence? They’re agonizing over firing him.
What’s ridiculous about this is Vegas was granted permission by the Flyers to talk to Tortorella. It would serve Vegas right if other teams took note of this and simply choose not to deal with them in the future.
“It’s upsetting…There was two teams that asked it’s public knowledge now, and I would like to talk to them. I want to go to work. I’m a hockey coach.”
Bruce Cassidy speaks on Vegas not allowing him to interview for other teams.
This year’s Broncos are not in my top 10 disappointments for two reasons. I thought the rebuild was ahead of schedule so everything was a bonus, and once Nix went down, they weren’t going to win the SB.
For me, nothing will ever top the Jaguars loss. That team was loaded. I was at the game and was so shocked I didn’t move from my seat for 10 minutes after it ended. This Avs collapse is the closest thing I’ve seen to that. Just absolutely stunning and cane out of nowhere.
SEC's Greg Sankey said he's "not thrilled" w/Arkansas' scheduling "squeeze" on Sept. 12 & 19 games, but SEC "delegates authority due to our TV contracts"
Elliotte on Makar: I heard his injury is pretty significant. I know some people have been wondering if he will be ready for the start of next year.

I think the Bednar question is more than fair. Coaching played a role in the collapse, but it’s also not all on him. The question is: if you fire Bednar who do get that is better? And David Carle is not an answer to that question.
