"The transition comes at the same time as the advent of new cryptographic tricks—namely, “zero-knowledge proofs”—that enable computers to manipulate and verify the integrity of encrypted data without seeing its contents." https://t.co/3KGB3TipQ0

"prediction markets are likely to cause more gambling fraud, so rather than say 'nah we don't want them' we say 'yay to more gambling!' and let's share intel"
Today the @CFTC and @MLB made history by signing the first-ever MOU between a sports league and federal agency.
We’ve committed to work together to protect the integrity and resilience of prediction markets relating to professional baseball.
Through this partnership, the @CFTC is well-positioned to add additional tools to protect our markets from fraud, manipulation, and other abuses. Thanks to @MLB and Commissioner Manfred for working with us to protect the integrity of these growing markets.

“The fact that people are betting on wars and conflict and people dying is gross. This is war, not a game … we’ve seen harassment by bettors against athletes in sports for failing to perform. It seems now that we are entering a new age.” https://t.co/5xPwr3Wpiu
We've got something exciting coming up 👀. If you're in DC and want to hear about it (or any of our events further afield) fill in this form:

This is absolutely nuts. The British Columbia school shooter's ChatGPT messages weren't just flagged by the automated system, but **a dozen OpenAI employees reviewed and debated them**

The agents may yet organize into a society that ends human dominance on Earth. For the moment, though, the initial wave of hype has given way to a more sober recognition that when hastily-built AIs are set loose on people’s computers, and on the internet, things will get messy. https://t.co/1eanzxA8Kr
Shortly after Georgia Fort's release from federal custody, law enforcement in riot gear cleared out the 1st floor of the US District courthouse in downtown #Mpls, forcing everyone outside. The independent journalist spoke to reporters there. Here is a clip @FOX9
I will simply never recover from reading this sentence:
"Since Georgia implemented work requirements in 2020, they have spent twice as much on Deloitte consultants and administrative costs as on healthcare for people."
Take a moment to look at the inhumanity captured in this extraordinary photo running on the front page of tonight's Minneapolis @StarTribune. It shows federal immigration agents immobilizing a protester on the ground and spraying chemical irritant directly into his face. The scene reminds me of the brutality used against civil rights protesters in the 1960s. We look back at those old photos and wonder how the authorities could have behaved so savagely; many years from now, young Americans will look at these photos from 2026 and wonder how anyone could have justified shooting a woman in the head as she tried to drive away, arresting 5-year-old schoolchildren on the street, or holding a man down and spaying chemicals into his face. Thanks to the Star Tribune reporters and photographers for documenting this work; they create accountability, they make democracy work, and they make all of us in journalism proud.
BREAKING: Immigration officers are asserting sweeping power to enter homes without a judge’s warrant, a memo obtained by AP says. https://t.co/r3uyyj3LWL
