Interesting seeing comments like this from Hunt & Yurov.

Game 3 feels massive for more than just this series. Obviously it matters for the core guys Kap, Boldy, Faber, Hughes, etc but I think it’s even bigger for the next wave of this organization.

There’s been a legitimate culture shift with this team the last few years. Now comes the actual hard part: young players stepping into elevated roles and actually believing they belong out there. Yurov, Hunt, possibly Brink/Haight I’ll be watching those guys close to see how they respond.

Ek & Brodin aren’t walking through that door to save the day. This is the opportunity. Against a complete wagon of a team, too.

Obviously (as I said) I know personnel is an issue. No NHL team as an Olympic roster. Theory/structure SHOULD translate in some capacity. AND personnel decisions are part of the equation.

Mackinnon is a fucking beast that plays angry. He’s an absolute stud - I’d wager there’s no forward in the NHL, in the exact position Boldy was in last night, doesn’t get destroyed in that situation. That’s not a knock on the forwards, that’s credit to Mackinnon. But…what do I know

Brother I have not and could not dispute that. I’m questioning your assertion that had Makar been hit like that there’d be a bench clearing brawl. The only evidence is to the contrary. Even if Mackinnon’s hit qualifies as boarding, it was in the heat of the battle and Boldy was clearly off balance. Does the hit look like that had he been on his edges? Obviously not. He would have got blasted into the boards sure since he was a couple feet from them. It wouldn’t have looked “as bad” though.
