'The Rookie,' starring Nathan Fillion, was just renewed by ABC for a ninth season. Creator, executive producer and showrunner Alexi Hawley may have had an inkling, ending the 8th season on another cliffhanger.

“I would say yes, there might be a cliffhanger at the end, potentially,” he said coyly.

There are four episodes left in Season 8, starting with 815, “Survive the Streets,” airing tonight, April 13.

“Next up is our true crime, mockumentary episode that we do every season” he said.

“They’re a little polarizing,” Hawley admitted about the annual stunt, which originated during the pandemic
