That’s a wrap on the 2025-2026 school year at Reitz Memorial High School.
Today marked the final day of finals, the final bell, and the close of another incredible year filled with memories, achievements, friendships, faith, and Tiger pride.
To the Class of 2026… thank you. Thank you for the leadership, the traditions, the memories, and the legacy you leave behind. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger.
To all of our students, faculty, staff, families, alumni, and supporters… thank you for making this year special.
Now it’s time to recharge, relax, and enjoy a well-deserved summer break.
Four years. Countless memories. Lifelong friendships. A place that becomes part of who you are.
As the Class of 2026 begins to close this chapter at Reitz Memorial High School, we asked our seniors a simple question:“What has Memorial meant to you?”
The answers were filled with laughter, faith, growth, victories, challenges overcome, unforgettable moments, and the people who made this place feel like home.
From Friday night lights and championship moments… to retreats, classrooms, hallways, lunches with friends, and teachers who became mentors… Memorial is more than a school. It’s a family.
To our seniors: thank you for leaving your mark on Memorial. Your story is now forever woven into the history of this school, and we cannot wait to see where God leads you next.
Leave a word of encouragement for the Class of 2026 as they prepare for graduation!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the incredible moms in the Memorial family!
Today, we celebrate the women who cheer the loudest, pray the hardest, sacrifice endlessly, and love unconditionally. From early morning drop-offs to late-night homework help, from sideline celebrations to quiet moments of encouragement, your impact reaches far beyond what words can capture.
In this special video, our students share why they appreciate their own mothers and the many ways they have shaped their lives, faith, and future. Their words are a reminder that behind every student is a mother, grandmother, guardian, or mother figure helping guide them every step of the way.
Thank you for the love, strength, faith, and support you pour into your families and our Memorial community each and every day.
Happy Mother’s Day, Tigers!
We’d love to hear from you… drop a comment and tell us something special about your mom or a favorite memory with her!

History came to life in a way no textbook ever could.
Students in Mr. Mattingly’s U.S. History classes recently had the incredible opportunity to step inside the past at the Evansville Wartime Museum—engaging in hands-on learning, exploring artifacts, and hearing powerful, first-hand stories that brought history off the page and into the present.
From interactive exhibits to meaningful conversations, our students gained a deeper understanding of the sacrifices, innovations, and experiences that have shaped our nation.
A heartfelt thank you to the Browning family and the dedicated volunteers at the museum for their time, passion, and willingness to share these important stories. Your impact on our students will last far beyond the classroom.

Honors Night at Reitz Memorial High School
Tonight, we gathered to celebrate a truly special group of Tigers — the Class of 2026 seniors — recognizing their dedication, achievements, and the legacy they leave behind.
From academic excellence to department and school-wide awards, the night was filled with moments that reflected years of hard work and commitment. Our valedictorians were honored with their stoles, symbolizing the pinnacle of their academic journey, while countless scholarships were awarded through the incredible generosity of our endowments and community supporters.
Each name called, each award presented, each handshake shared — a reminder that the Memorial story is written not just in classrooms, but through the people who invest in our students’ futures.
To our alumni, donors, and community members: thank you. Your support opens doors, fuels dreams, and changes lives.
And to our seniors — congratulations. Your next chapter is waiting, and it’s already brighter because of what you’ve accomplished here.

Some journeys are measured in miles… others in calling.
This past weekend, Reitz Memorial High School alumnus Nathan Folz took a profound step forward on his vocation, completing his Diaconate Ordination—a milestone that marks his continued journey toward the priesthood.
From the halls of Memorial to the altar, Nathan’s path is a powerful reflection of faith in action, service to others, and a life lived with purpose.
We are incredibly proud to call him one of our own.Congratulations, Nathan—we are praying for you as you continue answering God’s call.
Before most people even hit snooze… Memorial students were already stepping off the edge—literally—for something bigger than themselves.
This morning, at 7:30 AM on the day of Prom, 25 incredible Tigers took on a once-in-a-lifetime challenge, rappelling down the CenterPoint Energy building… all in support of Granted.
And the result?
Over $25,000 raised.
That’s not just a number. That’s hope, joy, and life-changing experiences for children facing serious illnesses.
This is what it means to be a Tiger. This is what it means to answer the call to serve.
To our 25 student rappellers—and to every student who supported this mission—thank you for showing what courage, compassion, and community truly look like.
We couldn’t be more proud.
Ideas sparked, prototypes built, and a little Tiger grit on full display.
Last week, three teams from Reitz Memorial traveled to the University of Evansville to compete in the Junior Achievement Innovation Challenge, taking their ideas from concept to competition.
One of our teams rose to the top, earning 2nd place and the opportunity to advance to the national challenge. Congratulations to Steven Lasher, Thomas Ripke, Garrett Payne, and Ryland Zubber on this incredible achievement. Their hard work, creativity, and collaboration paid off in a big way.
Today, they were presented with checks and certificates recognizing their success. The journey may not be over yet. If they choose to continue, this team could find themselves competing on a national stage in Boston later this summer.
From classroom ideas to real-world impact, this is what “More at Memorial” looks like.

Today was one of those days at Reitz Memorial that students will remember long after they leave our halls.
We had the incredible opportunity to welcome Arthur C. Brooks to campus, where he spent the afternoon engaging with our students on a topic that matters far beyond the classroom… happiness, purpose, and what it truly means to live a meaningful life.
A professor at Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard Business School, Dr. Brooks is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading voices on the science of happiness, dedicating his work to helping people live more fulfilled lives and bring greater well-being to others.
Drawing from his upcoming book The Meaning of Your Life: Finding Purpose in an Age of Emptiness, he challenged our students to think deeper, live intentionally, and pursue lives rooted in purpose, faith, and service.
Experiences like this don’t happen by chance. They happen because of a community that believes in investing in our students. A heartfelt thank you to JP Engelbrecht and Bob Koch for making this exceptional opportunity possible.
At Memorial, it’s not just about education… it’s about formation. And today was a powerful reminder of that mission in action.

From Evansville to Transylvania… and back again.
This week at Reitz Memorial, our halls felt a little bigger… not because they changed, but because the world walked through them.
Through our partnership with the Hungarian Medical Association of America Transylvanian Chapter, the Bolyai2US program, and the University of Evansville, we had the incredible opportunity to welcome students from Romania’s Transylvania region to Memorial for a two-week cultural exchange experience.
And what a week it’s been.
Our students shared what makes the Midwest home — from our love of sports and racing to the foods that bring us together. They even wrapped things up by teaching our guests how to dance the Cupid Shuffle (yes… we have video proof).
In return, our Transylvanian visitors gave us a glimpse into their world — their traditions, their daily life, and a dance that quickly turned into a full-room celebration.
One night, it all came together: an American-style cookout, cornhole games, soccer, laughter, and conversations that didn’t need perfect English to be understood.
Because at the end of the day, this wasn’t just about where we’re from.
It was about what we share.
Friendship. Curiosity. Joy.
These students didn’t just visit Memorial — they became part of it. And in the process, lifelong friendships were formed that stretch far beyond Evansville.
Thank you to our host families, parents, and teachers who opened their homes and hearts to make this experience possible.
This is what it means to be Memorial.

Today, we pause.
On this Good Friday, we remember the ultimate sacrifice—an act of love that defines our faith and shapes who we are as a Memorial community.
In the quiet, there is meaning.
In the sacrifice, there is purpose.
And in the cross, there is hope.
As a school rooted in the tradition of the Brothers of Holy Cross, we are reminded that even in the darkest moments, light is never far behind.
May this day be one of reflection, gratitude, and faith.
