Here are 6 of the worst humanitarian crises in the world that I haven't heard about in the news recently:

1. Ethiopia, Kenya, and Somalia - 36.4 million people are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance. It has been happening for FOUR decades now.

2. The Sahel - Approximately 34.8 million people in the Sahel region require humanitarian assistance from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Mali, Niger and Nigeria, and an additional 3 million will need assistance this year.

3. The Democratic Republic of Congo - 27 million Congolese require humanitarian assistance, an increase of nearly 38% from last year. This has been going on for decades.

4. Afghanistan - Since 1978, this conflict has left 24.1 million Afghans in need of humanitarian aid, including 15.3 million children.

5. Yemen - More than 80% of Yemen's population, including 12.9 million children, require humanitarian assistance as a result of the Civil War.

6. Pakistan - Last year's flood escalated the situation in Pakistan and affected 33 million people — roughly one out of seven people in the country.

Itay and Maya Regev, who were kidnapped by Hamas and are now recovering in Israel, endured horrific levels of torture and abuse.
