@harry_shit@anon_opin Or kids are surprisingly good - really how much better did you get at secondary school? A few swear words and coached through Shakespeare using a Letts guide.
@anon_opin If you have specific tastes in books then supermarkets and airports are more or less a desert. Might have one or two things left in the classics section if you’re lucky. It’s a self fulfilling prophecy - you don’t expect to find good books anywhere convenient and stop looking.
@anon_opin My pet theory is that they’re pocketing the VAT on 90% of everything they sell airside so a handful of luxury purchases is enough to keep a boutique alive. That and guilt purchases.
@anon_opin Probably cost less overall. They choose some absolute stinkers though, it’s punishment to kids who enjoyed reading before secondary school in most cases.
@anon_opin It’s a good EP - love some of the included B Sides and arguably Airbag is the weakest track. They must have been so close to having 2 albums worth of material especially if they’d laid down the version of True Love Waits that was kicking around in that era.
@nic_carter Big British cities were historically cheap for young people to live in because of post blitz / actual Cold War anxiety and we had all the technological chops to make recording excellent and affordable. There’s also a persistent and eager gap between pop and classical culture.
