@ComplexSports @allthesmokeprod Unfortunately travel ball is has made baseball an affluent sport wear it’s all pay to play and there isn’t enough competition in rec/LL anymore. We could be missing on future stars by steering inner city kids to only play football and basketball. Hopefully there is a change now.

To add context as someone who grew up in the inner city. Baseball is discouraged not outwardly but institutionally. They removed the baseball fields from the inner city almost completely. Also they put baseball behind a paywall poorer families won’t have access to such as travel teams and baseball camps. There’s certain high schools that do not have well maintained baseball fields or programs due to lack of city or state funding.

Jordan Walker is a product of the suburbs and his family could probably afford the better schools and baseball camps to fuel his natural talent. There’s a kid right now better than every kid in highschool, college, or the minors that just didn’t get that chance due to lack of access. This type of “ism” is called institutionalized racism and it’s on purpose.
