I never understood PH's arrogance after 2018 (took the opposition 14 tries to defeat BN, and that too with Dr M) and after 2022 (didn't win simple majority).

I understand realpolitik, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Politics is all about emotions, as politicians well know.

What made it worse was PH politicians taking photos with Zahid and other Umno leaders during the past few years, as if their previous anti-BN/ anti-kleptocracy campaign never happened.

I attended Bersih rallies and I personally believed in Pakatan's cause against BN since 2008.

So when I see PH politicians praising Umno and treating them like their new BFF, I feel personally betrayed, like PH made a fool out of me or lied to me.

Just because you have to work with someone doesn't mean you have to like them. I have had to work with people I disliked, but I didn't take selfies with them or hang out with them outside of work.

So I derive deep satisfaction from seeing voters in Sabah, Johor, and Negeri bringing PH down to their knees. I don't expect PH to change, much less beg for mercy as they should.

PH will continue to remain arrogant until GE16. But that's okay because politicians' time in power is always numbered. The people will still be here, long after they're gone from office.

Whenever any minister wants to propose a bad policy, especially those from PKR or Amanah, I just keep in mind that they won a pathetic zero to two seats in state elections, i.e. nobody likes you.

Political configurations are beyond the realm of mere mortals like myself, but at the end of the day, as every politician knows, you are nothing if the people aren't behind you. When you have public support, you can get away with a lot of things.

Again, voting is deeply emotional. This may seem petty to a lot of people. But I can't help the way I feel. Not to mention that PH cytros were a lot meaner to me than BN ever was.

PH's disastrous performance in Sabah, Johor, and Negeri is still mind-boggling to me. By the way, when BN was in power pre-2018, Opposition supporters tended to support BN in by-elections to get resources for their constituency, while voting Opposition in GE.

What's happening now is an inexplicable reverse, where voters in three states voted against the incumbent PH federal government.

If we want to talk practical terms, then what civil society can do is to expand their proposals for whatever reform not just to PH, but also to BN and PN ahead of GE16.

Even though they may not adopt our proposals if and when they come into power, at least they know the problems on the ground and can't pretend that no one didn't tell them the solutions.

Finally, if PH cytros tell us that we deserve the government we choose, that's fine. I will bear the consequences, whatever happens in GE16, but at least I won't see arrogant politicians anymore.
