I feel like the author felt very strongly that the two of them were good people trapped in unfortunate circumstances, completely disregarding the fact that those unfortunate circumstances were actually of their own making.
IP'm curious to understand whether people-pleasing corresponds with a concept in stoicism. I think of Stoicism as being open to being wrong. This happens to overlap with some beliefs I had before starting to study Stoicism.eople pleasing or open-mindedness
