BREAKING: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says it is the end of the "woke department" in the Department of Defense: "No fatties, no tr*nnies, no weirdos, no wimps, no radicals, just warriors."
@luda8t How the US can manage the Iran conflict
>build infrastructure in Venezuela and import fuel as a puppet
>build more synthetic refineries
>Use Marines with heavy tanks to take ports along the strait
>Send mountaineers with flame tanks to breakthrough to Tehran
>collab govts
excluding people who’ve been in America since its conception in favor of outsiders who conveniently support your short term political goals is actually 100% wrong, is evil, and is exactly what everyone on the right is worked up about the democrats doing
@paulg@levelsio You think Americans should have to compete with the entire world for their jobs, that they should be replaced by the "most qualified" person. I don't. You are dozens of replies in now, refusing to address this core point.
That is not a fake dispute. Cope harder.
Notice how Lindsay Clancy was very tentative and apprehensive in her “suicide attempt” but extremely violent, systematic, methodical, and determined when she strangled her children to death. That’s because she hated the children much more than she hated herself. She was far more determined to kill them. If she showed even half the aggression to herself that she showed them, she wouldn’t be alive right now.
Americans are always shocked the first time they learn about how India truly is.
They are not tech gurus and meditation experts. Many of them are blatantly racist and their country is incapable of developing beyond gifts from colonialism.
I get so incensed by headlines like this. You know why I don’t even consider theme parks, tattoos, or video games? Because 100% of my income goes to taxes & necessities for my family.
I applied for assistance recently because things are getting even tighter & I just wanted some money to help with groceries.
And I got denied because my (heavily taxed) income is too high.
Meanwhile, welfare recipients who pay almost no taxes are using tax money from people like me to get the things I choose not to do because I can’t afford them, so much so that they’re now making laws for it.
I knew quite a few Bernie bros irl. They’re the types that are always upset about the news. It doesn’t matter who’s in charge or what’s being done, everyone is stupid except them. They obsess over politics but they don’t have any coherent world view. They spend all day obsessing over something they don’t really know anything about. Politics reacts in mysterious surprising and unpleasant ways. They don’t have a frame work for how one thing is connected to the other. They just want everything to be good; they have no way of defining what good would be.
When they say an argument or debate is stupid, they don’t understand what’s being argued about isn’t necessarily the thing, but a fundamental disagreement in world view that affects all policy decisions.
They think war is pointless and stupid, but they never have a way to resolve the reasons people go to war. They think the sjw feminist and race stuff is ridiculous, they don’t have a resolvable answer for the inequalities causing the conflict. They want free healthcare and lower taxes. They want workers protections and costs of everyday goods to drop. They have the complete inability to acknowledge tradeoffs and are often ignorant to the arguments either side makes about them.
Dolly was born in East Tennessee and used her success to make it better. So much money from her attractions and fame came into our mountain communities and was put into schools and infrastructure. She made the Imagination Library to help childhood literacy in Appalachia. Every month since our daughter was born, the library has sent her a book with a note from Dolly encouraging her to be proud of where she’s from and to learn the importance of the stories that built us. Her husband passed last year and she spoke of being reunited with him. I’m glad heaven is a little sweeter, and sings a little better for it. Rest in peace to the Queen of Appalachia, Jolene could never.
People blame Trump and the GOP of being pressure release valves for RW forces but the reality is that posting is the ACTUAL release valve.
People come on X and start their silly podcasts and pretend that they are doing something. They pretend that their posts are moving the needle and that they are formenting CHANGE with their digital rants.
Your civic duty doesn't end at the "post" button like 90% of this website thinks it does.
Have you EVER CALLED A REP. Have you ever yelled at their staffers. You and 4 other friends can go and place very real pressure on your representatives, and if not them then their staff who SURROUND THEM IN PERSON YEAR ROUND by doing the bare minimum.
Have you ever flown to DC? If you fly in and merely WALK TO THEIR OFFICE ON CAPITOL HILL they will meet with you. They will remember you. It's never been easier nor cheaper. Even before that HAVE YOU EVER SPOKEN TO THEM?
For all the ranting that you will do on this app have you ever once even TRIED to speak with the person you vote to represent you?
Have you ever campaigned for a candidate? Have you ever doornocked, phone banked, or literally anything? If the answer is "no" then you haven't even TRIED to get anywhere close to your civic duty.
It's so easy to say "there is no political option" and "we'll vote harder next time" but VOTING IS ALL YOU DO. As if that is where your duty ends.
Your civic duty, the duty your ancestors purchased with blood was to ENGAGE with the process at every level to your greatest ability, and when THAT ALL FAILS, as Jefferson put it “it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
No person that posts “we will vote harder next time” has put any effort in the real world and has engaged politically. All they do is just post.
You might not be ‘autistic.’ You might not be ‘on the spectrum.’ You might not have ‘Asperger’s.’
You might be an asshole who doesn’t care to learn social norms, and you’re trying to turn your bad behavior into a virtue as an act of narcissism.
@captive_dreamer My PhD advisor in grad school had a very similar take when GPT started getting off the ground. He predicted it would replace google in some capacity and he was 100% correct.
