A British founder of Indian origin imagining the “Kaiser of India” and doing it. (now a thriving full stack healthcare brand in India)

A stellar duo choosing to build in energy in India and creating a modern renewable energy company along the lines of MVNO of the mobile carrier world. (live and kicking)

I’ve had the good fortune to invest in these teams super early and see the impossible happen against terrible odds.

The only thing that was true in all cases was the founders’ insanely deep conviction.

Whoop is an insane story by all counts. It’s an inspiration.

We invested in all of these (see link for a short list) at idea stage with nothing much there and we built the first institutional scale pre-seed fund in India to invest early: (1) pre-product most of the time (2) pre-revenue all the time (3) plenty of no pedigree (4) multiple women and husband-wife teams (5) laser focus on market-first investing and wrote pre-consensus checks in neobanks and fintech infra in 2018 all the way to vertical quick commerce and voice AI more recently when there was little to no proof whatsoever.

I understand the sentiment in the post here but there are multiple VCs in India who don't fit what is described here.

Can we get better? Yes, of course.
