@MagaselaNtombi To add to that, leadership is about having a combination of leadership styles and skills to effect the desired change and reach goals thus it entails adaptive, transformational, distributive, collaborative leadership qualities and getting people to collectively interact.
@AlanaCT15 True. Leadership is about helping others, inspiring confidence in them to also reach their goals and destinations and take delight and pride for others success. Leadership is not about position, title or control but about respecting and valuing others.
@Celeste84938946 Agreed.
Think of it as this, "The 4 A's of Adaptive Leadership"
Anticipation - of future needs and trends.
Articulation - of needs and to garner support.
Adaption - continuos learning.
Accountability - transparency in decision-making.
@L4ur3tt3F Leaders who are trained will in turn influence teachers knowledge and practices, and who in turn will foster student learning with technology.
@ZiLu9380 There truly is not a "one- size fits all" leadership approach. A combination of leadership approaches is what's needed such as Transformational Leadership, Distributive Leadership, Adaptive Leadership etc. All of these approaches will elicit effective communication and change.
@MillerSchaal @ZiLu9380 So true. Communication empowers parents and the communities and makes them realize how important their role is in the achievement of their children at school. Communication allows for diverse and adaptive ways for parents, communities and education to support each other.
@KaruNGovender We need to move to a more skill-based education system. We have to work towards thinking out of the box. There is a greater shift digitally now, as to how to empower our learner's to take ownership of their learning through engaging social interactions. We need change in SA!
@meashane123 1. Give teacher's more planning time.
2. Offer more professional development courses where teacher's may learn a new skill or skills example becoming more tech savvy.
3. Observe what teacher's are doing well and give praise for their efforts. A simple acknowledgement will do!

The pandemic is an opportunity for our professional growth, for us to constantly learn and reflect and for us all to participate in reorganizing teaching and learning. This crisis is forcing leaders and all of us to rethink what we are doing in education!
Leadership is about support and selflessness, building capacity and thinking about others and promoting the success of others. It is about the absence of control, power or position and all about effecting action and change.
We say our education system must ensure that 4IR skills must be incorporated. What about schools who do not have the right tools to embrace the 4IR? Do they get left behind? Most schools still have no basic sanitation or feeding schemes etc. Basic needs first!!!
#futuretrends
We constantly hear 'no school left behind, 'teacher as facilitators', we use words such as 'robotics' and 'coding', 'artificial intelligence', etc. Most schools do not have the correct tools to embrace the 4IR and are lagging far behind. Issues of exclusions exist!
#futuretrends
Covid-19 has brought unresolved racial and socio-economic inequalities to the fore in our country. We need " inclusive growth" now. Leaders must work towards everyone receiving an equal opportunity.
#futuretrends
The 4IR is all about technological advancements and using it innovatively and creatively. The role of technology is a key enabler to productivity and leadership.
#futuretrends
Adaptive, Transformational Distributive and Participatory Approaches to Leadership is what is needed now where leadership is shared in an environment that is conducive to learning and where all involved feel safe to voice their ideas and opinions and feel valued.
#futuretrends
Educational Leaders must encourage workplace environments that promote Experiential Learning, where learning involves taking risks, inquiry and reflection!
#futuretrends
The future of growth in schools must involve more mentoring opportunities. Educational leaders must use the older teacher's to support the newer teachers.
