A brief pause on #COVID19nsw to bring you some platypus content. They’re going to be re-introduced into Royal National Park after being absent for 50+yrs.
While others are in lock down, export woodchipping from Eden continues; trees cut down, wildlife killed or made homeless.Trucks bring logs from south coast forests, even cross the Victorian border, ships still load woodchips for export. Apparently it’s an essential industry!
Awful - first found this breeding site of swift #parrots in 2011 & now much of the site has been cut down - technically this a conservation ‘success’ under the rules because they only need to ‘protect’ the individual nest tree - legal vandalism.
This is why we fight. Have a look at this current coupe near Toolangi, named 'Hooly' by VicForests. Located between 'Funny' and 'Gags' coupes (all great fun, right?).
It's a large coupe, with a net harvest area of 33.5 hectares. And chock-full of wildlife.

80% of East Gippsland forest have burnt, 3/4 of Parks and Reserves. Your own science experts tell you logging must stop. This is bald corruption. This is theft of our natural heritage. You are all culpable.
BREAKING: Bulldozers tried to start logging forests in Errinundra this morning, but a person up a tree-sit stopped the machines from moving in! For 8 weeks the community has been on the ground protecting these forests, they urgently need support. Head to https://t.co/XbHsWKR8aX
Footage from the conservationist still 40m up a tree halting logging machines from moving in! This is the 4th day they've been up protecting these precious forests in Errinundra. Call @DanielAndrewsMP on (03) 9651 5000, tell him to protect Victoria's forests & stop the logging!
View from the tree sit over misty forests of Errinundra East Gippsland. Too precious to log, & the bulldozers would've moved in without brave actions of community member still up the tree. @DanielAndrewsMP the senseless destruction needs to stop & transition brought forward.
BREAKING: A protester is occupying a platform 40m up a tree to stop logging machines from going into precious unburnt forests in Errinundra, East Gippsland. “This is the place where people come to sooth the wounds of a burnt heart... This is the place we need to save." #SpringSt
@errinundra The governments own scientists said in a document in January 2020 all green ( not burnt) must be preserved. What would have happened if we ignored the scientist's advice on Covid 19 lock downs? Make up your mind Dan are you science denier or not!
Precious forests in Nunniong East Gippsland getting smashed by @DanielAndrewsMP government. Most of this will be wood chipped, made into cardboard packaging & end up in landfill. Forests that survived the bushfires & should be left standing, logged by @VictorianLabor. #SpringSt
We've seen our community slowly recover after the devastating bushfires. Thank you to the folks who donated & helped rebuild after the fires💚
Despite the challenges of this year we have a lot to be proud of, check out what we got up to this year here: https://t.co/Ci1Jcb2XUP
Goongerah locals on Mt Jersey in East Gippsland where Dan Andrews gov is logging recovering forests close to their town & knocking down massive old trees which are critical for surviving wildlife. The bushfires should've been a wake up call, we need transition out of logging now.
