@Specialk186@TristanSnell Either way, I’m with you on the general sentiment and believe that the stability of our country depends on moving past ideology, focusing on service vs winning, and learning how to compromise again. But, both parties have to be on board or this will never happen.
@Specialk186@TristanSnell Fair enough and I don’t disagree with the sentiment. Politics have become more and more about winning and less and less about serving the country. Democrats aren’t blameless, but I’d argue that a lot of this has been driven by the GOP starting with Gingrich.
@Specialk186@TristanSnell But what, specifically, constitutes frivolous spending for you in this Bill. You mentioned putting a cap on Ukraine spending. I find it hard to see how we would, as a country, not want to fund the national security emergency in Ukraine or the disaster relief for FL.
@Specialk186@TristanSnell So, are you saying you disapprove of the appropriations portion of the Bill in the spirit of obstructing Democrats on purely ideological grounds, do you object to aiding our ally who is being attacked by our worst enemy, or do you object to the hurricane relief for FL?
@Specialk186@TristanSnell …that led to the Tea Party) when this bill may have been bipartisan. Govt shutdowns for “funding gaps” were only introduced in the 70s and shutdowns were purely bureaucratic until Gingrich made them an ideological cudgel, to our country’s detriment.
@Specialk186@TristanSnell How are appropriations to keep the govt running and aid to Ukraine (an ally invaded by our long time enemy Russia) nonsense? There was a time, before Newt Gringrich’s Contract with America began the current trend of obstructionism…
@Specialk186@TristanSnell And, as I pointed out in my earlier tweets, the idea that pork, or earmarks, or omnibus bills are exclusive to democrats is completely off base.
@Specialk186@TristanSnell Pork is being thrown around pretty loosely. How is funding for Ukraine bringing dollars back to a representative’s district? https://t.co/2Ms7UxaGeR
