Taxistan, chapitre final : L’Exode.
Alors pourquoi cet engouement maintenant ?
Certains diront : « La fiscalité. »
Trump’s sanctions have forced even Oman, the Islamic Republic’s most accommodating diplomatic partner, to shut out Iranian airlines.
For years, Oman tried to be the Switzerland of the Persian Gulf. It kept talks open and gave Iranian airlines access to Muscat. That route mattered to the regime, including Mahan Air, a carrier tied to the Revolutionary Guard’s Quds Force.
Then the United States threatened sanctions on airports, fuel suppliers, and ground handlers serving Iranian carriers. After a U.S. Treasury official visited Oman, Mahan’s Muscat flights were cancelled. Oman then blocked Iranian airlines more broadly.
Even Oman wilted under U.S. pressure. The stakes explain why. U.S.–Oman trade reached about $4.3 billion in 2025, while U.S. investment in Oman stood at roughly $22 billion, about 27% of the country’s foreign investment.
Oman also has a free trade agreement with the United States, and its banks and businesses rely on access to the dollar system. It was never going to risk all of that to keep serving the Islamic Republic’s airlines.
Trump’s blockade at sea and pressure on neighbouring countries are tightening a siege around the regime by land and air, closing routes it had counted on keeping open.

The next phase of the Third Battle of Ypres gets underway with seven British and two Australian divisions attacking from the Menin Road to Polygon Wood and further up north towards St. Julien. Repeating the tactics and massive artillery support that had proven successful a week earlier, the attack moved the British forces forward 1,000-1,500 yards and savaged the German defenders. Rather than trying to push forward, the British once again dug in, brought up reinforcements and awaited the inevitable German counterstrokes.
