Ahead of #IDPD2022 this week a group of #disabilities rights advocates from Pacific & Asia have brought their message of #inclusion straight to Parliament.
We are in Canberra all this week talking about need to alleviate women with disabilities to lead change in their country.
The Australian Government is committed to inclusive development. We are ensuring women with disabilities are empowered to drive change & contribute to effective development across the Indo-Pacific.
It was an honour today to meet some strong disability advocates from our region.
Discussing intersectionality👍 "we have a lack of data and evidence around multiple marginalised groups; the laws and policies at a national level need to be transformed with our lived experiences."
Pratima Gurung, National Indigenous Disabled Women's Assoc Nepal.

Senator @MurrayWatt, Minister for Emergency Management, keynote address #APMCDRR2022#ResilienceForAll
One in five people living in poverty in developing countries is a person with a disability.
Australia has always played its part to support those who need it most, anywhere in the world.
Great to meet with the Australian Disability and Development Consortium.

Within the #AustralianAid budget, the Government has once again frozen funding for #disability inclusion at $9.6m. Don’t put Australia’s reputation as a leader on disabilities at risk, invest more to support people with disabilities. #Budget2022 https://t.co/19AfulbHHZ
