Thank you to all the SEIA members who visited Capitol Hill yesterday and reminded lawmakers that permitting reform starts with permitting certainty and that solar and storage are essential to an affordable, reliable energy grid.
We're back with another installment of The Energy Stakeholder!

MISO leadership said the applicant pool from it's first interconnection queue express lane application window represented a “large, diverse” assortment.
74% natural gas. 15% battery storage, 4% wind, 4% solar and 3% nuclear power.
Tomorrow! The @LAPSC Business and Executive Session will take place in Plaquemine.
It is open to the public or available live on Youtube.

It risks undermining the premise of regional planning and cost sharing that keeps the grid reliable and affordable, writes former Arkansas PSC Chair Ted Thomas. "Transmission lines provide shared benefits far beyond state borders."
Why are 5 states - including the 3 from MISO South - filing complaints at FERC? They say these projects don’t serve the broader region & should be funded only by the states they pass through. An appealing message - but also an oversimplification. https://t.co/gggj3QLRcF
Southern Renewable Energy Association Transmission Director Andy Kowalczyk said MISO and SPP should probably model systems stressed by summertime, especially given the springtime instances of load shedding in Louisiana for both RTOs.

The move comes as Entergy Arkansas is seeking approval to finance a 754MW natural gas-fired power plant in Jefferson Co with a rate increase, a process that was made available to utilities by a law passed earlier this year. The process is called a strategic investment rate rider.
SWEPCO's proposed 27.3% base rate increase includes a proposed annual $21.5 million system improvement plan rider, which is meant to "address the resiliency of the electricity grid."Without the rider, the proposal would raise residential rates by 20.2%. https://t.co/BfIiTA00Gx

“They talk a game about energy abundance, yet their actions are fundamentally counter-abundance. They’re creating scarcity," said Advanced Energy United's @USEnergyHarry.

New report from @CleanEnergyGrid & Grid Strategies shows transmission construction not keeping up with demand, jeopardizing reliability, affordability, and economic competitiveness. HVDC lines are faster, cheaper, and smarter—but we’re building too few. https://t.co/pSLAWrhL5h
So far in 2025, utilities have requested $29 billion in rate hikes - and nearly half of those customers impacted by hikes are in the South, where utilities have requested a combined $1.8billion in rate increases. https://t.co/2YFl0l7esy
Most people are aware that solar & wind energy are weather-dependent, but so is natural gas and nuclear energy, which both require significant cooling systems to operate well. Weather impacts the grid from almost every angle. https://t.co/qhzVby3QHa
It's time for real leadership in Louisiana. The state is at a cross in the road - meet the challenge of interregional transmission planning between MISO & SPP or let the next load shed event remind us of what we have failed to build. https://t.co/sXKz7qg5G2
SREA Exec Director @SimonMahan appeared before Entergy’s state regulators to urge them to think twice before considering leaving MISO for the Southeast Energy Exchange Market. Presentation comes on the heels of calls for Louisiana to join SEEM. https://t.co/jhh9j400sv
The Southeast Regional Transmission Planning meeting in June coincided with extreme heat that threatened the grid, underscoring the importance of a well-planned transmission system to ensuring reliable, affordable power ⚡️
