This happened to me months ago. I had to private my account and start blocking people who showed up and I knew. I went into an app of my provider and unclick TikTok so when I did get on the app it strictly only used cellular even when I was on wifi. It seemed to fix the issue and

So I had to private my tiktok due to the new changes.

The app now has a tab where it shows your content to anyone local to you. From what I’ve seen, there’s no way to back out of it.

I’m really upset because I basically had to throw away 288k followers. An account that I built.

I didn't see anyone I knew anymore. TikTok uses wifi to figure out who's around, friends, ect. Including wifi you've previously connect to. I've since deleted my account so I can't speak on if it's changed and will continue to tell you who's around you even if you disconnect it
