Definitely gonna move toward posting more on 🦋 from now on. Already I’m getting more engagement and a better selection of what’s showing on my feed. And I just don’t have the energy to post everything here and there. 😝 So come on over if you’ve also migrated!
Ey, I don't post here anymore, but I do still exist on the butterfly and camera apps. Same username. Working on Jaya Ballard right now for the #MagicCon Vegas Cosplay Contest! #JayaBallard#JayaBallardCosplay#MtGCosplay
Resin 3D printing friends! I have a new printer, still trying to dial in settings. This keeps happening. Supports print fine, but they don’t hold on to the model. What do I need? Thicker supports (tried that, not much difference)? Longer exposure? Temperature? 🤔
As I’ve been working on a cosplay of a costume that was originally made for stage, this is becoming SO apparent. My “standards” have been set so high by competitions. 😝
As both a cosplayer and costume professional, it’s actually fascinating to me how high level cosplay competitions require MORE finishing work and perfection inside-and-out than most theater productions I’ve worked on.
Different needs for different goals!
Something I love about cosplayers is when we realize our power when it comes to making whatever we want.
At some point we just casually start making our own regular clothing like no big deal.

@LitJoyCrate Opposite problem. I read 24 books in 2024, and I find that poetic. But I’m also really enjoying the book I’m reading now and on track to finish today, so… gotta distract myself. 😂
If a con isn't offering you what you feel you deserve, ask for more or don't do it! If they're not offering you compensation, but you still want to do it, then do it!
Lots of discourse lately about compensating convention guests. But… most conventions don’t compensate their [volunteer] staff.
Does someone have a thought on why the standards for staff and guests are different? Both are there to perform a job and make sure the con is improved.
I think I've found the core thing that's been bothering me about the current https://t.co/vzox25MahK feels like people are saying:
"you SHOULD demand compensation.”
When I think we should frame it as:
"you CAN demand compensation.”
